About this project
What does Forged In Fantasy add?
THIS PROJECT IS IN BETA CURRENTLY, NOT ALL SCHOOLS ARE FULLY IMPLEMENTED. FEEDBACK IS APPRECIATED :)
Forged In Fantasy is a mod adding a magic system based around cards; it allows you to use wands and certain curios as spellcasting focuses that draw out the power from magic cards.
Each school has two wands, at least one ring and a hat to compliment its playstyle. A wand can only cast spells of its school, but you can use a school-specific totem to unlock a secondary school! There are five schools of magic:
Pyre:
Pyromancy is specially designed for combat, utilizing fire and natural combustible energy for attack spells. Pyromancy is unwieldy and can burn the caster’s own vitality as fuel. They can conceal themselves in smoke or flame, or raise hell on groups of enemies with powerful explosive attacks.
Aqua:
Aquamancers make up for what they lack in combat prowess compared to their fiery counterparts in their ability to control the battlefield. Along with protective spells like glacier wall they can utilize the formless properties of water to attack, support or shield should they need to, and even manipulate atmospheric moisture to influence the air itself.
Stella:
Astrology is the study of stellar magic, a largely unknown source of magical energy. Due to the alien nature of it, stellar magic can be unpredictable even to the older, more studious wizards who wield it. Astrologists are capable of battlefield control like aquamancers, but they influence their allies rather than their opponents. Stellar magic holds many secrets that have yet to be discovered, with it seeming to employ a little bit of every school’s attributes.
Dark:
Dark magic is the practice of performing miracles and magical feats using one’s own ability and their connection with the dead rather than drawing from natural mana. Practitioners of dark magic are formally known as thaumaturges, though many know them as witches or warlocks. Dark magic makes use of hexes to physically impair opponents, divination to reveal entities and ritual magic to summon spiritual servants or familiars.
Holy:
Holy mages, also known as theurgists, prefer to use divine energy to support and heal rather than their own natural mana, which they see as impure. Theurgists are capable of greater healing and shielding than any other school, thus excelling at support roles. Their combat ability is limited by the peaceful nature of divine magic, but they are still capable of outputting divine judgement on their opponents.
Each school has its own unique identity and playstyle, with cantrips offering a bit of all of them as a starting point at a reduced potency.
Features dedicated Better Combat and Curios compatibility, several mechanics are tied to each one and every weapon has a customized Better Combat moveset.
