About this project
What does ChronoTorch add?
ChronoTorch adds three late-game blocks that put light, time and the sky in your hands. Light an entire chunk with one torch. Speed up every machine and crop around another. Then decide whether the world stays in daylight, in night, in sunshine or in a storm.

Available for Fabric, NeoForge and Forge, Minecraft 1.17 through 26.3, with the same features, recipes and config on every loader.
Time Torch
Akin to Torcherino, but with a proper control panel. Right-click the torch and set how much faster time runs around it.
- Speed up to ×32, area up to 17×17, height up to 17 blocks, each on its own slider
- Accelerates furnaces, blast furnaces, smokers, hoppers, brewing stands, spawners and modded machines
- Crops, saplings, sugar cane, kelp, bamboo and everything else that grows on random ticks grow faster too; at full speed, one random tick every game tick
- Redstone mode: ignored, off when powered, or on when powered, so a lever can switch a whole farm
- Area outline draws the affected box in the world
- Places on floors and walls like a normal torch

Advanced Torch
One torch, one chunk, fully lit. Place it and every block in its chunk sits at light level 14, from bedrock to the build limit, the instant it is placed.
- No hostile mobs spawn anywhere in the chunk
- Crops always have enough light
- Tunnels you dig are lit before you step into them
- The light stops exactly at the chunk border and never leaks into the next chunk
- No invisible light blocks, nothing to clean up: break the torch and the light goes with it
- Places on floors and walls

Celestial Pedestal
The end-game block. A stepped obsidian plinth with a brazier that burns while it commands the sky. Right-click it and the panel shows your world's sky as it is right now: the sun by day, the moon and stars by night, rain and lightning when the weather turns.
- Drag the sun around the dial to set the time of day
- Hold Day or Night with one click, or let the cycle run and set how many real minutes a day and a night last, from 1 minute to 2 hours each
- Hold the weather clear, rainy or stormy, or leave it natural
- The flame burns only while the pedestal is changing something and goes out by itself when the sky is back to vanilla

New ingredients
- Unbound Nether Star: five Nether Stars fused into one
- Dragon Core: every Ender Dragon drops exactly one
- Dragon Egg: now craftable, so a second egg never means a second dragon fight

For modpack makers
- Blacklist or whitelist blocks and block entities by tag (
#chronotorch:time_torch_blacklist,#chronotorch:time_torch_whitelist) or in the config, with a whitelist-only mode - Progression gating without extra items: start new players at low caps and raise speed and area per player through datapack unlock steps tied to advancements. Works with FTB Quests, KubeJS and plain datapacks
- Dimension allow and deny lists for each torch
/chronotorch reloadapplies config changes live;/chronotorch unlocksand/chronotorch limits <player>show what a player may set- A small Java API for mods that want to opt their machines out of acceleration
- Recipes, loot, tags, translations and textures are plain data, so packs can reskin or rebalance freely
Installation
Download the file for your Minecraft version and loader and drop it into your mods folder.
- Fabric: also requires Fabric API
- NeoForge / Forge: no other dependencies
Required on both client and server.
FAQ
Can the Time Torch speed up itself or another Time Torch? No. Accelerators are never accelerated.
Is the Advanced Torch's light real? For everything that matters, yes. Mob spawning, crop growth and rendering all read it. It has no light source to propagate, which is why it stops cleanly at the chunk edge.
Is it server friendly? The Time Torch costs about what the blocks it accelerates would cost at that speed. The Advanced Torch costs nothing per tick.
Can I use this in my modpack? Yes, no need to ask. MIT licensed.
