About this project
What does Thermodynamics add?
Thermodynamics
Thermodynamics is a Forge 1.20.1 industrial expansion focused on heat, pressure, steam, fluids, cryogenics, petroleum extraction, and resource processing.
Thermodynamics connects systems that would normally operate independently into a unified industrial network. Boilers generate pressure, steam can be transported across factories, Steam Engines can generate rotational power anywhere along the pressure network, pressure can drive fracking operations, and cryogenic technology can push conventional steam power far beyond its normal limits.
Built with multiplayer performance in mind, Thermodynamics avoids constant world-wide searches and uses cached, topology-driven networks wherever possible.
Anti-Fluid Duplication
Thermodynamics disables Pointed Dripstone fluid filling to close fluid-duplication exploits.
The fix operates directly on the transfer mechanic instead of continuously scanning the world, making it suitable for large multiplayer servers.
Steam Pressure
Thermodynamics expands Create's boiler system into a true pressure network.
Steam Valve
Attach a Steam Valve directly to a heated Create boiler.
No powered steam pump is required.
When the valve is open and the boiler contains water and sufficient heat, the valve converts that energy into pressurized steam.
Steam pressure depends on:
Boiler heat
Available water
Boiler capacity
Closing the valve immediately depressurizes the output.
Because steam propagates through expansion, one Steam Valve can pressurize an entire connected pipe network regardless of its length.
Steam Pipes
Connect the Steam Valve to Create fluid pipes to create a pressure network.
Steam does not require additional mechanical pumps to travel through the network.
The pipe topology is cached and rebuilt only when the network actually changes, avoiding continuous full-network searches.
This means steam infrastructure can be routed throughout a factory without requiring a separate boiler beside every machine.
Remote Steam Engines
Create Steam Engines can now be attached directly to pressurized steam pipes.
This allows rotational power to be generated anywhere your steam network reaches.
Your boiler can be located in one part of the factory while Steam Engines are distributed throughout the facility.
Simply route the pressure network to where power is needed and attach a normal Create Steam Engine to the pipe.
Pressure Sharing
Remote Steam Engines do not create additional energy merely by being added to the network.
All engines connected to the same pressure network share the available steam pressure.
For example, a network capable of fully supplying eight engines can power:
8 engines at full capacity
16 engines at approximately half capacity each
or another equivalent distribution of available steam power
Additional Steam Valve and boiler sources can contribute pressure to the same connected network.
Steam Engines, fracking equipment, Pressure Chambers, and other pressure consumers all draw from the same steam supply.
This allows factories to build genuine centralized steam infrastructure rather than requiring individual boilers for every power-producing location.
Steam Pressure Chambers
Thermodynamics includes the Steam Pressure Chamber, allowing pressurized steam to be supplied to pressure-driven machinery and compatible systems.
Supported pneumatic equipment can also receive pressure directly from the steam network without requiring an additional Create mechanical pump.
Fracking
High-pressure steam can be routed through the pipe network to bedrock injection points.
Supplying sufficient steam pressure activates fracking, allowing compatible petroleum extraction systems to receive enhanced production.
The system uses discrete pressure-fluid pulses rather than continuously searching the world for machines.
Oil Doubling
Supported pumpjack systems receive increased petroleum output while operating from an actively steam-fracked deposit.
Compatible pumpjacks can produce:
2× normal crude oil output
Supported integrations activate automatically when their corresponding mods are installed.
Thermodynamics does not require every optional industrial integration.
Liquid Nitrogen
Thermodynamics introduces a new cryogenic fluid:
Liquid Nitrogen
Liquid Nitrogen behaves as a normal Forge fluid and can be transported by standard compatible fluid systems.
This includes Create:
Fluid Pipes
Mechanical Pumps
Fluid Tanks
Other Forge-compatible fluid handlers
Liquid Nitrogen is deliberately not registered globally as water.
It therefore will not accidentally satisfy unrelated water recipes, washing mechanics, hydration systems, or machines from other mods.
Air Intake
The Air Intake is Thermodynamics' cryogenic production machine.
Place an Air Intake directly beside a compatible fluid tank and supply it with Forge Energy.
The machine extracts nitrogen from the atmosphere and liquefies it directly into the neighboring tank.
Default Production
20 mB of Liquid Nitrogen per tick
Energy Consumption
200 FE/t
Equivalent to approximately:
10,000 FE per bucket of Liquid Nitrogen
Once inside a tank, the Liquid Nitrogen can be transported normally using pumps and pipes.
The Air Intake only examines immediately adjacent blocks and performs no global tank searches.
Cryogenic Steam Boilers
Liquid Nitrogen can be supplied to a normal Create steam boiler instead of water.
When the boiler is overwhelmingly supplied with Liquid Nitrogen, Thermodynamics dramatically increases its Steam Engine capacity.
Liquid Nitrogen Bonus
+400% Steam Engine capacity
That means:
5× normal SU capacity
The underlying Create boiler mechanics are still respected.
Boiler output continues to depend on:
Heat
Boiler size
Fluid supply
Engine configuration
Liquid Nitrogen enhances the boiler rather than bypassing it.
A tiny amount of Liquid Nitrogen mixed into an otherwise water-fed boiler cannot activate the bonus. The supplied boiler fluid must be almost entirely LN₂.
Cryogenic Hazards
Liquid Nitrogen is extremely dangerous when released into the world.
Players and mobs exposed to spilled LN₂ rapidly freeze.
Living entities in the fluid receive:
Maximum freezing accumulation
Repeated freezing damage
Continuous cryogenic exposure while remaining inside the spill
Cryogenic infrastructure should be handled carefully.
Built for Large Servers
Thermodynamics was designed with multiplayer performance in mind.
Major systems favor:
Cached pipe topology
Event-driven network rebuilding
Local block checks
Targeted compatibility hooks
Standard Forge fluid capabilities
No unnecessary world-wide scanning
No forced chunk loading
Steam networks can remain very large without requiring a complete network search every tick.
Compatibility
Designed for:
Minecraft Java Edition 1.20.1
Forge 47.4.10
Primary integration:
Create 6.0.8
Optional integrations include supported versions of:
TFMG
Create Diesel Generators
Create: Pneumatic Equipment
Optional integrations activate only when their corresponding mods are present.
Why Thermodynamics?
Thermodynamics is built around one idea:
Heat, pressure, fluids, and energy should interact.
Build a centralized boiler plant.
Generate steam pressure.
Route it through your factory.
Run Steam Engines hundreds of blocks away.
Drive fracking operations.
Double petroleum production.
Liquefy atmospheric nitrogen.
Cryogenically enhance conventional boilers.
Instead of isolated machines, Thermodynamics turns your industrial infrastructure into one connected physical system.
Build the boiler in one place. Bring the power everywhere.
