About this project
What does Forsaken Dawn Core add?
The core mod of The Forsaken Dawn modpack. It carries every rule the pack changes, so the pack needs one mod instead of loose data packs. It is built for the pack, but every part of it works on its own.
Ore is scarce and drops small
- Iron, gold and copper ore drop a raw nugget instead of raw ore; diamond, emerald and lapis ore drop gem nuggets. Fortune and Silk Touch still work.
- Smelt a raw nugget into a nugget. Four nuggets make an ingot or gem. Adds Copper, Diamond, Emerald and Lapis Lazuli Nuggets.
- Smelting a Silk Touched ore block gives a nugget too, so there is no way around it.
- Every overworld ore generates at half the vanilla rate.
- Zombies no longer drop iron ingots.
- Iron Rubble: crush 4 andesite into 1 rubble, smelt it into 1 raw iron nugget. A slow trickle of iron from plain stone. With Mineral Extraction installed, its own stone-to-nugget recipes are switched off so andesite is the only stone that gives iron.
Realistic gun recipes (Timeless and Classics Zero)
- All 54 guns, 24 ammo types and 95 attachments re-costed from the real weapon's weight and materials.
- Guns cost 3–40 iron ingots. No lapis, diamonds, quartz, amethyst or Nether items anywhere.
- Gunpowder: 1 flint shard + 1 charcoal → 2 (with No Tree Punching).
No Nether
- Nether portals can never be lit, and nothing can travel to the Nether.
- Recipes that needed Nether or End items use overworld materials instead: fire charge, lead, quartz from diorite, glowstone dust from glow ink sacs, Legendary Survival Overhaul coats and canteen.
Temperate spawn
- New worlds start in temperate lowland (plains, forests, meadows) instead of on a snowy peak.
Hardcore Revival
- Mobs ignore knocked-out players and cannot shove them around.
- A knocked-out player cannot fire, swing or reload a TaCZ gun, and cannot leave the K.O. screen to look around.
Zombie Hardcore
- Removes the variant name tags above typed zombies (player name tags still work).
- Runner zombies lose their Speed effect, particle trail and dash; they are simply 10% faster.
- Replaces its day counter with a "Day N" counter in the bottom-left corner that starts at Day 1 (hidden while chat is open).
- Its per-chunk zombie count is computed once per tick instead of once per chunk, a real server-side saving on horde nights.
Quiet start
- Terralith's welcome message and Spawn Animations' Pehkui helper-function errors are silenced.
