Create: Going Nuclear

A nuclear power addon for Create (Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge 21.1). You mine rare uranium, process it with Create machines, enrich it, build a real pressurised water reactor, turn its heat into rotation, and try not to blow it up.

About this project

What does Create: Going Nuclear add?

Create: Going Nuclear

A nuclear power addon for Create (Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge 21.1). You mine rare uranium, process it with Create machines, enrich it, build a real boiling water reactor, turn its steam into rotation, and try not to blow it up.

Features

Uranium and radiation

  • Very rare uranium ore and radioactive caverns deep underground (walls full of ore, contaminated puddles, own biome).
  • Physics-based radiation in real units (µSv/s, mSv): inverse square law, shielding by block thickness, alpha/beta/gamma, half-lives.
  • Hazmat suit (alpha, beta) and lead suit (gamma), Geiger counter, dosimeter, HUD gauge, radiation sickness stages.
  • Anti-Rad pills and an injector, both with first person animations.

Processing with Create

  • Crushing, a sequenced assembly (spout, press, deployer) for yellowcake, nitric acid in a heated mixer, dissolving, bottling with the spout.
  • Gas centrifuge cascade (stacked, driven by Create rotation) enriches uranium up to 5 percent.
  • Buckets of every mod fluid, usable as Smart Fluid Pipe filters.

The reactor (5x5x6, built layer by layer)

  • Reactor Casing (connected textures), Reactor Glass, Fuel Channels, Graphite Moderator, Control Rods, Controller.
  • One Reactor Nozzle block with five modes: feedwater, steam, fuel, waste, relief valve.
  • Point kinetics with delayed neutrons, k-effective, xenon poisoning, decay heat, Doppler feedback, coolant flow and pressure model.
  • Boiling water design: the coolant boils inside the core and the steam goes straight to the turbines, with no separate steam generator loop. Output is up to 2.2 million stress units, scaled by the steam flow, and the steam can also heat a Create boiler tank.
  • The relief valve vents excess steam that condenses back to water (faster with ice around).
  • Random small incidents, automatic SCRAM only in an emergency.
  • Control Desk (SCADA style GUI): dials, charts, event log, rods, pump, valve, SCRAM, Redstone Link frequency slots.
  • Reactor Creator (creative): builds a complete working reactor with turbines in one click.

Accidents

  • Hydrogen and steam explosions, containment (concrete, lead or iron dome) with pressure, corium.
  • Without containment: flashbang, shockwave that flattens the land and is heard from far away, flying reactor blocks, aftershocks, a final much bigger explosion, a dust column with a mushroom cap, and fallout.
  • Fallout is carried by a slowly turning wind over up to 1000 x 1000 blocks. Leaves fall, grass turns to podzol and coarse dirt, plants wither. The Radiation Scanner shows the map and the wind.

Guides and extras

  • Ponder scenes: building the reactor layer by layer, the nozzle modes, running it, steam to rotation, containment, control desk, uranium processing, enrichment.
  • Advancements and English and Turkish translations.

Requirements

Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge 21.1.x, Create 6.0.x (with Ponder and Flywheel).

Commands (operators)

  • /nuclearcavern creates a radioactive cavern under you.
  • /nuclearfallout releases fallout at your position.

Config

goingnuclear-common.toml: ore and cavern rates, dose time scale, shielding thickness, auto SCRAM, random incidents, accidents, meltdown on or off.
