About this project

What does The V0id Dimension add?

The V0id Dimension

Mine a strange new ore in the End, build a portal, and step into The Void: a glitched, broken copy of your Overworld. The sky is dark purple and streaked with errors, the sun is a black hole, the water has turned blue and black, and everything you know about mobs is backwards. Cows hunt you. Zombies don't care you exist.

Requires: Minecraft 26.3, Fabric Loader and Fabric API.

How to get to The Void

1. Find Abyssite in the End

Abyssite Ore is found in end stone all over the End, about as rarely as diamonds. Mine it with a diamond pickaxe or better to get 1–3 Abyssite (Fortune gives more).

2. Make 4 Blocks of Abyssite

Craft 9 Abyssite into 1 Block of Abyssite. The portal needs 4 blocks (36 Abyssite).

3. Get protected before you go

The Void erases unprotected players in about 10 seconds. You need one of these:

  • Potion of Void Protection: brew an Awkward Potion with Abyssite. It lasts 10 minutes. Add gunpowder for a splash potion, then dragon's breath for a lingering one.
  • A full set of Abyssite armor: it protects you for as long as you're wearing all four pieces.

4. Build the portal

Lay the 4 Blocks of Abyssite flat on the ground in a plus shape around a 1×1 hole:

    A
  A . A
    A

Then place a Block of Amethyst into the hole. It turns into a Void Portal, and a purple beacon beam shoots up out of it for 3 seconds. Jump in!

The portal works in the Overworld, the Nether or the End, and takes you to the same coordinates in The Void.

5. Getting home

A return portal is built where you arrive. Step into it to go back to the Overworld.

The other way in

Jump off the End. Falling into the void below the End doesn't kill you any more: you drop out of The Void's sky instead, and float down with Slow Falling. There's no portal home waiting for you, so bring 4 Abyssite Blocks and a Block of Amethyst to build your own. Get protected first!

You can't set your spawn in The Void (beds and respawn anchors don't work there), so if you die, you wake up back home.

What's waiting in The Void

  • Same land, wrong world. The terrain matches your Overworld at the same coordinates, but under a dark purple sky full of glitch streaks, with a black hole where the sun should be, sucking in planets: they spiral in, get torn apart into streams of debris and vanish. There is no day and night there: the black hole gives off almost no light, so it is always dark. Bring torches.
  • Low gravity. You jump about 2.5 blocks high, drift slowly back down, and can fall 8 blocks without getting hurt.
  • Glitch Fluid instead of water. Broken blue-and-black water that works like the real thing (fish and squid live in it, it puts out fire), and gives you Fire Resistance that lasts 30 seconds after you get out. You can pick it up in a bucket.
  • Corrupted blocks. Patches of corrupted grass, dirt, stone, sand, logs and leaves, on the surface and underground. Every kind of tree has its own glitched log and leaves. The corruption is ragged holes into the starry space of an End portal, spreading from block to block.
  • Everything is backwards. Passive mobs (cows, pigs, sheep, villagers...) chase you and attack. Hostile mobs (zombies, skeletons, creepers...) completely ignore you. Neutral mobs (wolves, bees, endermen, iron golems, llamas, pandas, goats) and your tamed pets behave normally.
  • Zombies, skeletons and other undead don't burn in daylight, and wardens never get angry at you.
  • The Glitch. A broken, hovering mob that spawns all over The Void (and nowhere else), above ground and in caves, and the one monster there that still wants you dead. It stutter-teleports around, sometimes skips away when you hit it, and one hit in four rubber-bands you a few blocks away. Drops experience and sometimes Abyssite.

Glitched mobs

Every passive mob that ends up in The Void gets corrupted: torn textures, magenta and cyan streaks, patches of missing texture, and a new name ("Glitched Cow", "Glitched Farmer"...).

  • They stay glitched if you bring them home, and their babies are glitched too.
  • Glitched mobs attack you anywhere, not just in The Void. Tamed pets and the mount you're riding stay on your side.
  • Glitched happy ghasts keep their distance and shoot ice balls. They hit as hard as a ghast's fireball, freeze you and slow you down. Punch one to send it flying back!
  • All 28 passive mobs have their own Glitched Spawn Egg in the Void Dimension creative tab.
  • The glitched look is made from your own game's textures, so it works with your resource packs.

Abyssite gear

Crafted from Abyssite and sticks in the same shapes as diamond gear. It sits between diamond and netherite, except that every Abyssite tool hits 1 harder than its netherite version. It can be enchanted, repaired with Abyssite, and trimmed. Wearing all four armor pieces protects you from The Void.

The Abyssite Sword gives anything it hits the Void effect for 3 seconds (1 heart of damage a second). The Void's own mobs, the Glitch and glitched mobs, are immune, and so is anyone with Void protection.

Durability Mining speed Attack bonus Armor toughness Knockback resistance
Diamond 1561 8.0 +3 2.0 0%
Abyssite 1800 8.5 +5 2.5 5% per piece
Netherite 2031 9.0 +4 3.0 10% per piece

Attack damage: Abyssite sword 9, pickaxe 7, axe 11, shovel 7.5, hoe 2 (netherite: 8, 6, 10, 6.5, 1).

Void Aspect enchantment

A new sword enchantment, like Fire Aspect but with the Void. Anything you hit gets the Void effect for 3 seconds at level I, 5 at level II and 7 at level III. The same mobs are immune as with the Abyssite Sword. Find it at the enchanting table, from librarians and in loot chests; it works on any sword, Abyssite included.

Tips

  • Your first trip is the dangerous one: bring a few Potions of Void Protection, then use what you find to finish your Abyssite armor.
  • Bring your wolves: tamed pets stay on your side in The Void, and you'll want the help.
  • Grab a bucket of Glitch Fluid: a quick dip gives Fire Resistance, handy for your next Nether trip.

Installation

  1. Install the Fabric Loader for Minecraft 26.3.
  2. Download Fabric API for 26.3.
  3. Put both jars in your mods folder.

For multiplayer, the mod needs to be on the server and on every player's game.
