About this project

What does Rooster's Ratchetguns add?

Rooster's Ratchetguns

REQUIRES GECKOLIB AND ARCHITECTURY

This mod adds a variety of ratchetguns to the game. Ratchetguns are a cross between crossbows and guns that you wind up to shoot, having a maximum tension that corresponds to how much you can shoot them before they become empty, and you have to wind and load them up more. As for how they work... I don't know! I envisioned them as having some sort of ratcheting mechanic as well as mechanical system that ignites the fuel in each round.

This mod is inspired by games such as Monster Hunter, which has similar weapons called Bowguns, taking different ammo types to do different things. This mod has a variety of ammo types, including bleed, freeze, glacial, high velocity, and more - to do a wide array of effects on hit.

There are a multitude of modules that you can apply at a tinker table to modify the behavior of your ratchetgun. Perhaps you want something that loads quickly? You can do that, but doing so will incur a penalty to max tension, lowering your effective capacity. You want to have a single powerful shot? You can havea dump module that dumps all the tension into one shot, increasing damage with tension to fire powerful single shots. You can have what are essentially shotguns, in exchange for a more uncontrollable experience.

Ratchetgun modules can be found in loot and made in tinker tables. Ratchetgun themselves can be found with pre-loaded builds can be found as treasure in dungeon chests as well.

Custom renderers handle things like bullet tracers as well as the physical look of the ratchetgun in your hand as you crank it.

There is compatibility for Create: bespoke recipes are present if the mod is installed. Similarly, Ranged Weapon API and Critical Strike (by daedelus_dev) are supported for scaling the damage of ratchetguns. If Spell Engine is installed, they count as arrow hits and arrow shooting for the sake of passives that involve those actions.

TO-DO: Ratchetgun skins, tracer skins, bullet effects, blast skins, cosmetics in general.
