About this project
What does Fresh Terrain add?
Fresh Terrain
Fresh Terrain adds 65 fantasy-inspired biomes that still look natural, from blossoming groves and autumn hills to volcanic ridges and glaciers, and gives the vanilla biomes a fresher look.
Features
- 65 new biomes across four climate zones: warm, hot and dry, cool, and cold.
- Tree shapes that fit each biome: round, slender, spruce, pine, umbrella acacia, palm, bush, fancy, giant jungle and spruce, dark canopy, and twisted trees, each with matching logs and leaves.
- Volcanic landscapes: tall dark mountains, small cinder cones with lava-filled craters, basalt and obsidian boulders, lava lakes, and drifting ash.
- Spectacular mountains: alpine meadows, emerald peaks, granite tors, misty crags, spire mountains, and glacial peaks.
- Biome-specific colors: every biome has its own grass, foliage, sky, fog, and water colors.
- Natural atmosphere: ambient particles in selected biomes, such as ash in volcanic lands, spores in fungal forests, and floating lights in fairy woods.
- Extra detail in every biome: unique flowers, mushrooms, ferns, boulders, and wildlife.
- Fresher vanilla biomes: more flowers and tall grass, villages that can generate in forests, more rabbits and foxes, and brighter grass and leaf colors.
- Configurable: turn each part on or off, and scale how often the new biomes appear.
- Languages: English and Indonesian.
Requirements
- Minecraft 1.16.5
- Forge: 36.2.42
- No other dependencies

Vanilla Biome Improvements
Beyond the new biomes, Fresh Terrain enriches the vanilla overworld. Plains gain more flowers, tall grass, and rabbits. Forests and birch forests gain denser flowers and ferns, can generate plains-style villages, and host more rabbits and foxes. Taigas gain ferns, swamps gain extra flowers, and rivers gain lily pads. Vanilla grass and leaf colors are also made brighter and cleaner.

The config file is created at config/freshterrain-common.toml on first launch.

Notes
- Fresh Terrain is an early release. Please report bugs together with your
latest.log. - New biomes appear only in newly generated chunks, so start a new world to see them all.
- Cinder cones are small volcanoes, with a base radius of up to about 12 blocks. Large calderas are not included yet.
- Biomes use vanilla blocks only, so no resource pack is required.
