🌟 Overview

CBTL Tier Tagger pulls live ranking data directly from the Combat Tierlist (https://combattierlist.vercel.app/api/data) and attaches a dynamic tag to every player in-game: their gamemode tier(s) on the left of their name, and their overall points, overall tier and region on the right - above player heads, in the tab overlay, and within chat.

Everything runs via asynchronous background polling, ensuring zero impact on your frame rates or gameplay performance.

✨ Core Features

  • 🎛️ Universal Visibility: Displays badges above player heads, in the tab list, and inside chat.
  • ⚡ Smart Tier Calculation: Automatically identifies and highlights a player's absolute best gamemode and rank without manual configuration.
  • 🎨 Custom Icons: Features custom bitmap font icons for all 8 supported gamemodes: Sword • Mace • SMP • Pot • Vanilla • NethPot • UHC • Axe
  • 🧭 Fixed layout: [2nd tier] | [1st tier] | Name | <points> <overall icon> <overall tier> | <region> - up to two gamemode tiers on the left, overall info on the right.
  • 🔴 Overall points: always shown in bright red. The overall tier (icon + name) and the region are optional. The icon follows the points: below 50 → Cadet, 50–100 → Ace, 101–149 → Master, 150+ → Grandmaster.
  • 🌍 Region colours: AS uses the LT3 colour, NA the HT3 colour, EU the HT4 colour; an unknown region shows nothing at all.
  • ⚙️ Mod Menu Integration: Easily adjust the overall tier / region display, second tier, refresh intervals, and chat visibility using an in-game config UI.
  • 🔍 Instant Lookups: Run /cbtltier player <name> for immediate on-demand player stat lookups.
  • 🚀 Lightweight Engine: Efficient background API polling keeps your game stutter-free.

🛠️ Requirements

Dependency Required Version
Minecraft 1.21 – 1.21.11 (see below - separate build per version)
Fabric Loader See each version's own gradle.properties
Java 21+
Fabric API Matching version for your Minecraft build
Mod Menu (Optional) For in-game settings screen

This mod now builds as 12 separate jars, one per Minecraft version from 1.21 through 1.21.11. Get the jar that matches your exact Minecraft version.

📥 Installation

  1. Download and install Fabric Loader for your Minecraft version.
  2. Download Fabric API matching that same version and drop it into .minecraft/mods.
  3. Download the cbtltiertagger-<your version>-*.jar that matches your Minecraft version, and place it in mods.
  4. (Optional) Add Mod Menu to configure settings directly in-game.
  5. Launch Minecraft and dominate the arena!

⚙️ Configuration

You can customize the mod via the Mod Menu interface or by editing .minecraft/config/cbtltiertagger.json.

🔧 Configurable Settings

  • Tier Color Schemes: Assign custom hex colors to distinct rank tiers (tierColors in the config file; the region colours reuse LT3 / HT3 / HT4).
  • Enable Overall Tier: Show / hide the overall-tier icon and name next to the (always visible) overall points.
  • Show Region: Show / hide the player's region (AS / NA / EU).
  • 2nd Tier: Disabled by default; when enabled, pick a second gamemode. It only appears for players who actually have a rank in that gamemode, and never repeats the 1st tier.
  • Refresh Intervals: Control how frequently live ranking data is fetched from the API.
  • Chat Toggle: Enable or disable tags in Chat (nametags and the tab list are always tagged while the mod is on; /cbtltier toggles the whole mod).

📜 Changelog

Combat Tierlist API + new layout (Current)

  • API: now reads https://combattierlist.vercel.app/api/data. Only the 8 gamemodes the API provides are supported (Sword, Mace, SMP, Pot, Vanilla, NethPot, UHC, Axe); Cart, Diamond SMP and Spear-Mace were removed along with their icons.
  • Layout: gamemode tiers always on the left; overall points (bright red), optional overall tier icon + name, and optional region always on the right.
  • Icons: new gamemode icons (larger in-game) and four overall-tier icons (Cadet / Ace / Master / Grandmaster, static frames - Minecraft text cannot animate).
  • Config UI: removed Mod Enabled, Show Gamemode Icons, Show Above Nametags, Show In Tab List and the second-tier position arrows; added Enable Overall Tier, Show Region and a simple 2nd Tier: Enabled/Disabled + 2nd Gamemode.
  • Fixed: the gamemode you select is now always the one shown when the player has a rank in it.
  • Fixed: compile error on Minecraft 1.21 – 1.21.4 (NativeImageBackedTexture has no debug-label constructor before 1.21.5).
  • Hardened: a malformed entry in the API response no longer discards the whole list, duplicate usernames keep the entry with the most points, and an empty response no longer wipes already-loaded tags.

Multi-version restructure

  • Restructured into a multi-version build: common/ holds the ~95% of the mod that's identical across Minecraft versions, and 12 small per-version modules (versions/1.21 through versions/1.21.11) each supply only the handful of APIs that changed shape.
  • CI now builds and uploads a distinct jar per Minecraft version on every push.
  • Fixed: gamemode icons rendering as missing-glyph boxes, and several config-screen buttons silently failing to appear.
  • Added: a second, independently-configurable tier badge with left/right placement controls, and a live offline "mannequin" preview in the config screen.

v1.21.11

  • Ported: Updated target to Minecraft 1.21.11.
  • API Fixes: Adapted to GameProfile accessor renames, Style.withFont() requiring StyleSpriteSource, KeyBinding category adjustments, and CyclingButtonWidget.builder() signatures.
  • Build System: fabric.mod.json dependency ranges are now automatically generated from gradle.properties at build time.

v1.0.1

  • Fix: Resolved issue where gamemode icons defaulted to the sword emoji.
  • API Upgrade: Switched to /api/rankings endpoint, parsing full per-gamemode ranks maps.
  • Syncing: Synchronized gamemode icons and tier text calculations.
  • Commands: Updated /cbtltier player <name> to return accurate point breakdowns.

v1.0.0

  • Initial release.
