About this project
What does Seed 201: The Tallow Man add?
⚠️ BETA (1.0.0-beta.2). Everything is playable, but expect rough edges, balance changes and the odd bug. Back up your worlds. Please report anything strange in the comments, especially crashes (with your log), anything that breaks immersion, and scares that feel too frequent or too rare.
He owns the night. Something else owns the day.
A creepypasta horror mod for Forge 1.20.1 that haunts you from the moment you load in, and gets worse every night you survive. Best played alone, in the dark, with headphones.
What's waiting for you
The Tallow Man. A tall, melted figure with a candle burning on his head. He wants your light. He counts your torches. He snuffs them out while you aren't looking. He stands at the edge of your light, and he only comes closer when you look away. By the fourth night, he hunts you.
The Goatman. In daylight you'll find him sat in the grass in front of you, back turned, tearing open a dead pig. Get too close and he stops chewing, and his head turns all the way round to look at you. He watches from the treeline and is closer every time you look back. He runs alongside you when you sprint. He's behind trees. On the fourth day, he stops hiding.
Mira and Aldous. A wax child who wants you to follow her, and the chandler who made all of this.
Features
Two monsters, two shifts. The Tallow Man by night, the goatman by day. "NIGHT 3" / "DAY 4" title cards at every dusk and dawn.
Four stages that escalate night after night. Watched, Sightings, The Approach, The Hunt.
Fully animated 3D jumpscares made in Blockbench: five for the Tallow Man, four for the goatman, random every time.
An instant camera. Take real photos of what's in front of you. The polaroid develops in your hand. The flash stuns the Tallow Man and makes the goatman run. And sometimes there's someone in the photo who wasn't there when you pressed the button.
A detailed gore scene: the goatman's dead pig, torn open, guts in the grass, jerking every time he tears at it.
Voiced whispers, screams and ambient music, replacing the vanilla music while you're being haunted.
Fake chat messages, fake save screens, fake crash reports, notes nailed to your walls, blood trails, your bed visited while you were out.
The room with no windows.
A full advancement tab, with some hidden until you earn them.
Lore: Aldous Wren's journal, scattered in dungeon and village chests, and an investigator's field notes unlocked by photographing each creature.
Streamer friendly: a first-launch warning screen, a "reduced flashing" mode, and a config for everything (difficulty presets, event frequency, world tampering, fake chat, jumpscares).
Requirements
- Minecraft 1.20.1, Forge 47+
- GeckoLib 4.4+
Known issues (beta)
**- Event frequency is still being tuned; use the config's difficulty preset or event frequency if it's too much or too little.
- Not yet tested with every world-generation mod; tell us if he spawns somewhere silly.**
Multiplayer
Works on servers. Each player is haunted on their own schedule.
