About this project

What does PlayTime Overlay add?

PlayTime Overlay

PlayTime Overlay is a client-side Fabric mod for Minecraft 26.3 with three independent, customizable HUD elements: your active playtime, elapsed in-game days, and the in-game daytime clock.

Features

  • World and server playtime: Track active playtime separately for each singleplayer world and multiplayer server, with optional seconds and automatic pausing when singleplayer is paused.
  • In-game days and clock: Display elapsed world days and a 24-hour clock derived from world ticks, where tick 0 corresponds to 06:00.
  • Independent appearance: Set visibility, position, color, text shadow, and scale from 0.5x to 3.0x in 0.1 steps for each element.
  • Five font choices: Minecraft Standard, Minecraft Uniform, JetBrains Mono, Roboto, and Silkscreen.
  • Interactive color picker: Choose colors using an HSV wheel, brightness slider, editable hex values, 16 presets, and a formatted live preview.
  • Drag-and-drop positioning: Move all three elements with an optional 10px grid and magnetic alignment to screen edges, the center, and other elements. Hold Shift to temporarily invert snapping. Disabled elements remain visible in the editor with an OFF badge.
  • Convenient settings: Three configuration tabs with live previews, Save and Save & Close buttons, and a confirmed reset of recorded playtime for the current world or server.
  • Local persistence: Automatic playtime saving every 60 seconds, on disconnect, and when closing the client. Settings and times stay in local JSON files. Recovery copies preserve unreadable files; existing backups are retained.
  • English and German: Localized settings, tooltips, messages, and day/clock formatting. No server-side installation is required.

Configuration

Install Mod Menu to open PlayTime Overlay's configuration screen from the mod list. Adjust the three HUD elements independently and save without leaving the menu, or use Save & Close. Write failures show an error dialog and allow a retry.

The position editor saves positions and grid options separately using Save & Back or Escape. Its Cancel button discards the current editor session. Canceling the surrounding settings menu does not undo positions already saved in the editor.

Requirements

  • Minecraft 26.3 and Java 25 or newer.
  • Fabric Loader 0.19.5 or newer.
  • Fabric API 0.161.0+26.3 or newer for Minecraft 26.3.
  • Cloth Config 26.3.159 or newer is embedded; no separate installation is needed.
  • Mod Menu 21.0.0 or newer is optional and recommended for accessing the settings menu.
