About this project
What does accelerated hoppers add?
Accelerated Hoppers
Accelerated Hoppers adds a fast hopper with whole-stack item transfer, player ownership protection, and automatic ProjectE EMC recycling. Move items between inventories, collect dropped items, and turn selected unwanted items into EMC for the hopper's owner.
Fast item transfer
- Transfers stacks instead of moving just one item at a time, limited by available space and the receiving inventory's rules.
- Pulls from inventories above the hopper and pushes into the inventory facing its outlet.
- Collects dropped items within the hopper's normal pickup area.
- Keeps the familiar five-slot hopper inventory and placement directions.
- Checks for further transfers on the next game tick while actively moving items, with less frequent polling when idle.
- Uses a bounded amount of inventory work per tick. Actual throughput depends on inventory size, available space, stack limits, and the connected inventory's insertion and extraction rules.
This mod adds its own hopper block; it does not replace or change vanilla hoppers.
Player ownership
An unbound Accelerated Hopper binds to the player who places it. Ownership uses the player's UUID.
- Only the owner can open its inventory, edit its recycling blacklist, or break the placed hopper through normal player interaction.
- A bound hopper item can only be placed by its owner.
- Breaking the hopper preserves its owner and recycling blacklist on the dropped hopper item. Inventory contents drop separately.
- To transfer ownership, the current owner can hold the hopper item and right-click in the air to unbind it. The next player to place it becomes the new owner.
- Unbinding preserves the recycling blacklist.
- Item tooltips show the owner and explain how to unbind the hopper.
Protected automation
Items can be inserted into an Accelerated Hopper through its Forge item handler. External extraction through that handler is restricted to an adjacent Accelerated Hopper belonging to the same owner.
This allows protected chains of owned hoppers. Ordinary hoppers and pipes cannot pull items out through that interface. An Accelerated Hopper can still actively push its own contents into a compatible inventory facing its outlet.
Connected block inventories must expose an appropriate Forge item handler. The hopper respects the permissions of the accessed side.
Automatic ProjectE recycling
Open the hopper and press **Blacklist** to choose which item types should be automatically sold for EMC.
- Each hopper has **36 virtual filter slots** in a 9-by-4 layout.
- Click a filter slot while carrying an item to set or replace its sample. Click with an empty cursor to clear it.
- Number keys can select a sample from the hotbar. Shift-clicking an item in the blacklist screen adds its type to the first empty filter slot.
- Samples are not consumed. The filter slots are settings, not extra storage.
- Matching is based on item type and ignores durability, enchantments, and other NBT data.
- Matching items with a positive ProjectE sell value are consumed and converted into EMC. Their actual sell value and quantity determine the payment.
- Items without a positive sell value are not destroyed; they remain available for normal storage or transfer.
- A hopper will not automatically recycle another player's bound Accelerated Hopper.
The blacklist is a **recycling list**, not an insertion-blocking filter: adding an item type tells the hopper to sell that type automatically.
EMC is credited directly to the owner's personal ProjectE balance. If the owner is offline, pending earnings are saved with the world and delivered when the owner logs in. Recycling adds EMC only; it does not automatically teach ProjectE new items.
Adding an item type to the blacklist can also recycle matching items already inside the hopper.
ProjectE transmutation support
- Normal selling and Shift-click selling in ProjectE's transmutation interface check ownership before accepting a bound Accelerated Hopper.
- Unbound hopper items can be sold normally.
- Learned hopper information and newly created hopper items do not retain ownership, blacklist settings, or other item NBT. Transmuted hoppers are fresh, unbound items.
- Uses standard ProjectE classes and does not require a customized ProjectE build.
Redstone, appearance, and integrations
- Redstone power pauses automatic item transfer, as with a vanilla hopper.
- The hopper has a netherite-style exterior, high explosion resistance, and cannot be moved by pistons.
- Includes English and Simplified Chinese translations.
- Optional **Jade** integration displays the hopper's owner.
- The custom inventory screens opt out of **Inventory Profiles Next** automatic inventory handling.
- **SecurityCraft is not required.**
Redstone locks item movement; it is not a separate on/off switch for recycling. Inserting items manually or editing the blacklist can still trigger recycling.
Crafting
Combine **one vanilla hopper** with **four ProjectE Watches of Flowing Time**:

The recipe produces one Accelerated Hopper. It is also available in the Redstone creative inventory tab.
Requirements
- **Minecraft:** 1.20.1
- **Mod loader:** Forge 47.4.10 or later for Minecraft 1.20.1
- **Java:** 17
- **Required dependency:** ProjectE 1.0.1 or a compatible later release for Minecraft 1.20.1
- Install Accelerated Hoppers and ProjectE on both the server and connecting clients.
- Jade and Inventory Profiles Next are optional.
The hopper operates in ticking, loaded chunks. It does not force chunks to stay loaded, so offline recycling continues only while another mechanism keeps its chunk ticking.
