About this project

What does Trading Cost add?

See what a villager wants for their first trade, without opening the trade menu.

Trading Cost is a simple mod that puts a small label above villagers showing the item they ask for in their first "item for emerald" trade. For example, a fletcher shows how many sticks they want, and a librarian shows how much paper.

Features:

Shows the requested item and amount above the villager's head, like a name tag
Green label: the trade is available
Red label: the trade is sold out

Shows the amount you would actually pay, including your reputation discount with that villager
Works with every profession and every item-for-emerald trade (fletcher sticks, librarian paper, fisherman coal, farmer crops and more)

Moves up automatically when the villager already has a name tag

Works in singleplayer and multiplayer (Server and Client both need to install.)

Configuration

Client config (each player sets their own):
showLabel - turn labels on or off
displayDistance - how close you must be to see a label (default 12 blocks)
extraYOffset - raise or lower the label, useful if another mod draws its own name tags
itemWhitelist - only show labels for these items, for example "minecraft:stick" and "minecraft:paper". Leave it empty to show everything.

Server config:
range - how far from each player villagers are checked (default 12 blocks)
updateIntervalTicks - how often labels refresh (default 20 ticks)

Note: Only the first two trades of a villager are checked, so villagers without an "item for emerald" trade in those slots show no label.
