About this project

What does Colossi - Sable Giant Mount add?

🐢 Colossi

Summary:

Giant creatures carrying real, buildable land on their backs! Explore, build mobile bases, and steer a massive tortoise, ocean whale, flying jellyfish, or steam centipede.

Colossi introduces gargantuan creatures that travel the world carrying real, physical pieces of land on their backs! Each colossus holds a fully buildable deck with hills, trees, ruins, working lifts, or empty rooms, all constructed from ordinary, breakable blocks.

Mine their resources, build your base, and once claimed, take the helm to steer these walking, swimming, flying, and crawling fortresses across the world!

⚠️ Work in Progress Note

Colossi is under active development. The newest colossus, the Scolopendra, is currently a work-in-progress feature. While fully functional, expect occasional rough edges. Always back up your worlds before updating!

Requires Sable and GeckoLib on NeoForge 1.21.1.

🗿 The Four Colossi

  • 🐢 The Zaratan: A calm giant tortoise walking the land, carrying a massive 39,000-block island.

  • 🐋 The Jasconius: A deep-ocean whale carrying an 80-block wrecked galleon on its back.

  • 🪼 The Aurelia: A translucent flying jellyfish carrying a sky storm observatory inside a glass bell.

  • 🐛 The Scolopendra (WIP): A 220-block steampunk centipede train featuring a locomotive and 8 customizable car platforms.

🎮 Steering, Controls & Features

  • Core Console & Steampunk Set: Claim any wild colossus via its console. Decorate your bridge with functional Gauge Panels (speed, altitude, depth dials), Lamp Columns (glow brighter with speed), and Valve Wings (vent steam).

  • Steering & Speeds: Sit at the helm for a third-person orbital camera view. Land and ocean giants reach impressive speeds (14 to 20 blocks/sec):

    • W / S: Accelerate / Brake

    • A / D: Steer left / right

    • Space: Rest / Stand up

    • C: Lock camera view

    • Shift: Exit helm

  • Species-Specific Hotkeys (Rebindable):

    • 🪼 Aurelia: R / V to climb/descend altitude; G to auto-land.

    • 🐋 Jasconius: G to drop/weigh anchor; R to trigger a dramatic 12-block ocean breach!

  • Terrain Crushing: Steering land colossi at full speed crushes trees, bushes, and soft hilltops in your path. Claimed chunks, player builds, and fluids are strictly protected, and destroyed flora naturally grows back after 5 minutes!

  • The Colossus Whistle: Shift-click your colossus deck to pair the whistle, then use it anywhere in the world to summon your colossus directly to your location.

🐢 Zaratan — Giant Tortoise

  • Gargantuan Size: Oval shell deck measuring ~104 x 77 blocks (~39,000 blocks of space) standing 30 blocks tall. Its pillar-like legs shake the screen and kick up dust with every step.

  • Living Animations: Walks without foot-sliding, breathes, blinks, roars when getting up, and head-tracks nearby players. Night-glowing eyes and shell runes illuminate its mossy hide.

  • Resting & Boarding: Periodically rests on its own. Toss Kelp or Seagrass near its head to force it to lie down immediately for easy boarding!

🐋 Jasconius — Ocean Whale

  • Deep Ocean Leviathan: A 130-block ocean whale holding a ruined 80-block galleon, captain's quarters, and a lifeboat deck lift.

  • Shallows Dredging: Automatically scrapes soft seabed blocks (sand, mud, gravel) in shallow waters to cross narrow straits without getting stuck (blocks restore after a few minutes).

  • Maritime Details: Features blowhole spouts, bow waves, whale songs, escorting dolphins, and a hanging swimmer's rescue rope when anchored.

🪼 Aurelia — Flying Jellyfish

  • Sky Storm Observatory: Features a translucent ribbed dome over a 71-block round deck, complete with a copper weather station, lightning rods, and 72 curling tentacles with glowing rune rings.

  • Flight Mechanics: Adjust cruising altitude anywhere between 14 and 140 blocks above ground, or use console presets for smooth landings.

  • Safety Net: Features a gondola lift, a craftable Parachute, and dynamic tentacle rescue mechanics—if you fall off, the nearest tentacle catches you and places you safely back on deck!

🐛 Scolopendra — Steam Centipede (WIP)

  • 220-Block Steampunk Train: A locomotive head pulling 8 customizable cars encased in copper shells. Build workshops, greenhouses, or storage holds inside each empty car!

  • Atmospheric Lighting: Powerful searchlights sweep the countryside at night, actively illuminating players and monsters on the ground.

  • Calling & Assembly: Summon one using a Steam Transmitter at a Call Station. Features 13 new craftable steampunk decorative blocks (pipes, cogwheels, brass plating, portholes, spotlights).

📦 Mobile Base Chunk Loading

Owned colossi keep surrounding chunks loaded—even while you are offline! This ensures your walking, swimming, or flying base keeps traveling and machines stay active.

  • Server Control: Owners can toggle chunk loading off at any time. Server owners can configure chunk radiuses (ownership.chunkLoadRadius, default 5x5). Wild colossi never load chunks.

🔌 Requirements & Mod Compatibility

  • Required: Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge 21.1.250+, Sable 2.0.6+, and GeckoLib 4.9.3+. Install on both client and server.

Optional Integrations:

  • 🌾 Serene Seasons: Moss, ivy, and deck animals visually adapt to spring blossoms, autumn leaves, and winter frost.

  • ⚙️ Create Mod: Display Links attached to consoles, gauge panels, or lamp columns output live Colossus Status readouts (speed, heading, depth/height, action state).

  • 🌩️ Tempest Almanac: Weather phenomena affect colossi! Blood moons turn runes/tentacles red, storms spark violet lightning, blizzards blow snow, and severe storms cause unguided colossi to land or lie down until weather passes.

  • ⚡ Sodium & Iris Compatible: Tested and optimized for modern performance and shader setups.

📝 Notes & Permissions
