About this project
What does Obsidian Forged add?

Obsidian Forged
Unleash the power of Obsidian. Forge powerful equipment, discover rare materials, wield legendary weapons, and summon one of Minecraft's mightiest guardians.
Obsidian Forged is a Minecraft mod that expands the vanilla survival experience by introducing a complete progression system centered around two powerful materials: Obsidian and Obsidianite.
The mod adds new weapons, tools, armor sets, crafting materials, blocks, rare loot, special abilities, and a powerful new guardian known as the Obsidianite Golem.
From collecting your first Obsidian Debris to forging advanced Obsidianite equipment, every stage of progression introduces new possibilities for exploration, combat, and survival.
All content is designed to blend naturally with Minecraft's original aesthetic, preserving its familiar pixel-art style while offering new gameplay mechanics.
1. New Materials
Obsidian Forged introduces two main materials that expand Minecraft's existing equipment progression.
Obsidian
Obsidian is the foundation of the mod's crafting system.
Instead of being used primarily for construction and Nether portals, Obsidian can now be processed into valuable materials used to create powerful equipment.
Players can obtain Obsidian Debris, produce Processed Obsidian Fragments, and forge Obsidian Ingots.
These materials are essential for crafting Obsidian equipment and progressing toward Obsidianite.
Obsidianite
Obsidianite is an advanced material created by combining Obsidian Ingots with Netherite Ingots.
It represents the highest equipment tier available in the mod, offering exceptional durability, mining efficiency, damage, and protection.
Obsidianite equipment also introduces special properties that make it particularly valuable during dangerous adventures.
Equipment Progression
The intended progression follows this order:
Wood → Stone → Copper → Iron → Diamond → Obsidian → Netherite → Obsidianite
Obsidianite is the final and most powerful tier.

2. Obtaining Obsidian Debris
Your journey begins with regular Obsidian.
When mining Obsidian blocks, players have an additional chance of obtaining a rare material called Obsidian Debris.
This material is essential for producing Processed Obsidian Fragments, which are later used to craft Obsidian Ingots.
Fortune Enchantment
The Fortune enchantment increases the probability of obtaining additional Obsidian Debris.
The chances improve according to the enchantment level:
- No Fortune: Base drop chance.
- Fortune I: Slightly increased chance.
- Fortune II: Moderately increased chance.
- Fortune III: Highest available chance.
However, Obsidian Debris remains a rare drop even when mining with Fortune III.
This system rewards exploration and the use of enchanted equipment without making rare materials too easy to obtain.

3. Crafting Obsidian Ingots
Obsidian Ingots are one of the most important crafting materials in Obsidian Forged.
They are used to create advanced equipment, storage blocks, and Obsidianite Ingots.
Step 1: Collect Obsidian Debris
Mine regular Obsidian blocks until you obtain enough Obsidian Debris.
Step 2: Obtain Processed Obsidian Fragments
Process the collected Obsidian Debris into Processed Obsidian Fragments.

These fragments are required for crafting Obsidian Ingots.
Step 3: Craft an Obsidian Ingot
Open a Crafting Table and use the following materials:
- 3 Processed Obsidian Fragments.
- 2 Diamonds.
Crafting Recipe:

Result: 1 Obsidian Ingot
Obsidian Ingots feature a purple and dark-colored appearance inspired by the original Obsidian textures.
4. Crafting Obsidianite Ingots
Obsidianite combines the properties of Obsidian and Netherite into a single advanced material.
Creating it requires substantial resources, making it a valuable achievement during survival progression.
Required Materials
- 4 Obsidian Ingots.
- 4 Netherite Ingots.
Crafting Recipe

Result: 1 Obsidianite Ingot
Obsidianite Ingots are required to upgrade compatible equipment, craft Obsidianite Blocks, and repair Obsidianite Golems.
5. Obsidian Tools and Weapons
Obsidian Forged introduces a complete collection of Obsidian tools and weapons.
These items preserve the functionality of Minecraft's original equipment while providing an additional progression option.
Available Obsidian Equipment
- Obsidian Sword
- Obsidian Pickaxe
- Obsidian Axe
- Obsidian Shovel
- Obsidian Hoe
- Obsidian Spear
Crafting
Obsidian equipment uses familiar crafting patterns adapted to the mod's materials.
Standard tools follow their corresponding Minecraft crafting layouts, while specialized weapons use their own recipes.
Obsidian equipment is not immune to destruction from fire or lava when dropped as an item.

6. Obsidian and Obsidianite Armor
Obsidian Forged introduces two complete armor sets designed to improve survival and combat.
Obsidian Armor
The Obsidian Armor set includes:
- Obsidian Helmet
- Obsidian Chestplate
- Obsidian Leggings
- Obsidian Boots
Obsidian Armor provides strong protection and improved durability compared to earlier equipment tiers.
Its textures feature dark Obsidian-inspired colors with distinctive purple details.
Obsidianite Armor
Obsidianite Armor is the most advanced armor set available in the mod.
It offers exceptional durability, increased protection, and a unique defensive ability when the complete set is equipped.
The set includes:
- Obsidianite Helmet
- Obsidianite Chestplate
- Obsidianite Leggings
- Obsidianite Boots
Full Obsidianite Set Bonus: Fire and Lava Resistance

Wearing all four pieces of Obsidianite Armor simultaneously grants continuous resistance to fire and lava.
This allows players to survive extremely dangerous environments, including lava-filled areas of the Nether.
The bonus remains active as long as the complete armor set is equipped.
Removing any armor piece disables the full-set ability.

7. Obsidianite Upgrade Smithing Template
Obsidianite equipment cannot be crafted directly using ordinary tool recipes.
Instead, players must obtain a special item called the Obsidianite Upgrade Smithing Template.
This template allows compatible Obsidian and Netherite equipment to be upgraded through the Smithing Table.
How to Find the Template
Obsidianite Upgrade Smithing Templates can be found in loot chests throughout the Minecraft world.
Supported structures include:
- Bastion Remnants
- Ancient Cities
- Nether Fortresses
The template is a valuable exploration reward and provides access to the mod's highest equipment tier.
Duplicating the Template
Once players obtain their first template, they can duplicate it using:
- 1 Obsidianite Upgrade Smithing Template.
- 7 Obsidian Ingots.
- 1 regular Obsidian Block.
Crafting Recipe

This provides a renewable method of obtaining additional templates after discovering the first one.
8. Upgrading Equipment to Obsidianite
Obsidianite equipment is created using Minecraft's Smithing Table.
Players can follow two upgrade paths.
Upgrade Path 1: Obsidian to Obsidianite
Place the following items in the Smithing Table:
- Obsidianite Upgrade Smithing Template.
- Compatible Obsidian equipment.
- Obsidianite Ingot.
Example:
Obsidian Sword + Obsidianite Upgrade Template + Obsidianite Ingot = Obsidianite Sword

Upgrade Path 2: Netherite to Obsidianite
Players can also upgrade compatible Netherite equipment using the same process.
Example:
Netherite Sword + Obsidianite Upgrade Template + Obsidianite Ingot = Obsidianite Sword

Both upgrade paths produce the same Obsidianite equipment.
Obsidianite Equipment Benefits
Obsidianite tools and armor provide:
- Increased durability.
- Improved mining efficiency.
- Powerful combat statistics.
- Strong defensive capabilities.
- Resistance to destruction from fire and lava when dropped.
Obsidianite equipment maintains the familiar functionality of its original Minecraft counterparts.
9. New Blocks
Obsidian Forged introduces special blocks made from its advanced materials.
Block of Obsidian Ingots

This block allows players to store Obsidian Ingots in a compact form.
It features a refined Obsidian-inspired texture with dark colors and purple highlights.
The block is extremely durable and requires an appropriate high-tier pickaxe to collect.
Block of Obsidianite

The Block of Obsidianite is the toughest block available in the mod.
Its appearance combines the smooth structure of Netherite Blocks with dark purple colors.
Crafting
Place 9 Obsidianite Ingots in a Crafting Table to obtain 1 Block of Obsidianite.
The reverse recipe converts 1 Block of Obsidianite into 9 Obsidianite Ingots.
Beacon Compatibility
Obsidianite Blocks can be used to construct Beacon pyramids.
Obsidianite Ingots can also be used as payment items to activate and select Beacon effects.

10. Horse and Nautilus Armor
Obsidian Forged introduces additional armor variants for Horses and Nautiluses.
These items expand the mod's equipment progression beyond player armor.
Obsidian Horse Armor
Obsidian Horse Armor cannot be crafted directly.
Instead, players must explore the world and find it inside eligible loot chests.
It provides a new equipment option for horses while preserving the familiar mechanics of Minecraft's mount armor.
Obsidian Nautilus Armor
Obsidian Nautilus Armor is also obtained through exploration.
Like Obsidian Horse Armor, it cannot be crafted using a regular Crafting Table.
Obsidianite Mount Armor
Both Obsidian armor variants can be upgraded to their respective Obsidianite versions using a Smithing Table.
Required materials:
- Obsidianite Upgrade Smithing Template.
- Corresponding Obsidian mount armor.
- Obsidianite Ingot.
This allows players to equip their mounts with advanced armor that matches the mod's highest equipment tier.

11. The Obsidianite Golem

The Obsidianite Golem is one of the most powerful creatures introduced by Obsidian Forged.
Inspired by Minecraft's Iron Golem, this massive guardian features an imposing appearance, exceptional strength, powerful defensive abilities, and unique animations.
Its body is made of dark Obsidianite with glowing purple details.
The Obsidianite Golem is larger, faster, and significantly stronger than a regular Iron Golem.
How to Summon the Obsidianite Golem
To create an Obsidianite Golem, players need:
- 4 Obsidianite Blocks.
- 1 Carved Pumpkin.
Arrange the Obsidianite Blocks in the same T-shaped pattern used to create a regular Iron Golem.
Place the Carved Pumpkin on top of the structure to summon the creature.
Player-Created Golems
An Obsidianite Golem created by a player acts as a loyal guardian.
It protects its creator and can defend villages against hostile creatures.
Unlike many defensive creatures, it remains loyal to its creator even if accidentally attacked.
Naturally Spawned Golems
Obsidianite Golems can also appear naturally in villages, occasionally replacing ordinary Iron Golems.
Naturally spawned Golems are peaceful toward players unless provoked.

12. Obsidianite Golem Combat Abilities
The Obsidianite Golem is designed to confront dangerous enemies and defend its surroundings.
Increased Strength and Durability
Compared to an Iron Golem, the Obsidianite Golem has:
- Significantly increased health.
- Much stronger melee attacks.
- Faster movement speed.
- Powerful defensive behavior.
- Special ranged combat capabilities.
Hostile Mob Targeting
The Obsidianite Golem can attack hostile mobs throughout Minecraft.
Its targets include dangerous creatures such as Zombies, Skeletons, Creepers, Endermen, and other hostile enemies.
It is also capable of damaging powerful bosses, including the Ender Dragon.
Aquatic Movement
The Golem can move through water without drowning.
It also possesses improved swimming capabilities, allowing it to remain effective in aquatic environments.
Glowing Eyes
The Golem normally displays bright purple eyes.
When chasing a player under hostile conditions, its eyes can change to an intense red color, making its appearance even more intimidating.

13. Special Ability: Obsidianite Energy Beam
The Obsidianite Golem possesses a devastating ranged attack known as the Obsidianite Energy Beam.
This powerful ability allows the Golem to attack distant enemies by releasing a concentrated beam of purple energy from its mouth.
The attack is inspired by the Warden's Sonic Boom but features its own visual effects, animations, and sound design.
Energy Beam Features
- Powerful long-range damage.
- Purple energy particles.
- Unique charging animation.
- Distinctive attack sound effects.
- Ability to pass through solid blocks.
- High effectiveness against distant hostile creatures.
The beam can reach enemies behind obstacles without destroying the surrounding terrain.
Blocking the Beam
Regular Minecraft Shields cannot block the Obsidianite Golem's energy beam.
Players must use an Obsidianite Shield to defend themselves against this attack.
The shield must be raised and correctly oriented toward the incoming energy beam.

14. Obsidianite Golem Damage System
The Obsidianite Golem features a progressive visual damage system.
As the creature loses health, glowing purple fractures appear across its body.
These cracks are inspired by Minecraft's Crying Obsidian texture.
The system includes five damage stages, each representing a different level of deterioration.
Damage Stages
Stage 1: Initial Cracks
Small purple fractures begin to appear.
Stage 2: Minor Fractures
Additional cracks spread across the Golem's body.
Stage 3: Moderate Damage
The fractures become more visible and cover larger areas.
Stage 4: Severe Damage
Large glowing cracks appear across the Golem's body, indicating substantial damage.
Stage 5: Critical Damage
The Golem becomes heavily fractured, with intense purple cracks indicating that it is close to destruction.
Repairing the Golem
Players can repair the Obsidianite Golem using Obsidianite Ingots.
As its health is restored, the visible fractures gradually disappear.
This mechanic allows players to identify the condition of their guardian without relying exclusively on numerical health information.

15. Obsidianite Golem Animations, Sounds, and Drops
The Obsidianite Golem includes custom animations and sound effects designed to make it feel unique.
Custom Animations
The Golem features animations for:
- Idle behavior.
- Walking.
- Running.
- Melee attacks.
- Energy beam attacks.
- Swimming.
- Taking damage.
- Death.
Custom Sound Effects
The creature also features distinctive sounds for movement, attacks, damage, and death.
Its death sound is particularly powerful, reflecting the creature's enormous size and strength.
Drops
Defeating an Obsidianite Golem provides valuable rewards.
Standard Drop: 1 Obsidianite Block.
Rare Drop: 5% chance of obtaining 4 Obsidianite Blocks instead.
These rewards make the Golem valuable while preserving the importance of crafting Obsidianite through normal progression.
16. Obsidianite Trident
The Obsidianite Trident is an advanced weapon that combines powerful melee attacks, enhanced ranged combat, and exclusive special abilities.
Unlike ordinary tools, this weapon is designed around Minecraft's original Trident mechanics.
It supports throwing, underwater combat, projectile retrieval, and compatible enchantments.
Weapon Statistics
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Melee Damage | 14 |
| Thrown Damage | 14 |
| Durability | 3,500 |
| Throwing Speed | +20% |
| Fire and Lava Resistance | Yes |
How to Craft the Obsidianite Trident
The Obsidianite Trident cannot be crafted using a regular Crafting Table.
Instead, players must upgrade an existing Trident using the Smithing Table.
Required materials:
- Obsidianite Upgrade Smithing Template.
- 1 regular Trident.
- 1 Obsidianite Ingot.

Result: 1 Obsidianite Trident
The upgrade preserves compatible enchantments, custom names, and the remaining durability percentage, adjusted to the new maximum durability.
Enchantment Compatibility
The Obsidianite Trident supports compatible vanilla enchantments:
- Loyalty
- Channeling
- Riptide
- Impaling
- Unbreaking
- Mending
Vanilla enchantment restrictions remain unchanged.

17. Special Ability: Fracturing Impact
The Obsidianite Trident possesses an exclusive ability called Fracturing Impact.
When a thrown Trident directly hits an enemy, it releases purple particles and applies a powerful weakening effect.
Ability Effects
- Applies Weakness III.
- Duration: 8 seconds.
- Cooldown: 5 seconds per player.
- Activates only on direct projectile hits.
Fracturing Impact does not activate through regular melee attacks or when the Trident strikes a block.
The ability makes the weapon especially useful against dangerous enemies by temporarily reducing their offensive effectiveness.
18. Special Ability: Nether Resonance
The Obsidianite Trident features a second passive ability called Nether Resonance.
This ability increases the damage dealt to hostile creatures originating from the Nether.
Damage Bonus
+20% damage against eligible hostile Nether mobs.
The bonus applies to both melee attacks and thrown Trident hits.
Affected Creatures
Nether Resonance affects eligible enemies such as:
- Blazes.
- Ghasts.
- Wither Skeletons.
- Hoglins.
- Hostile Piglins.
- Hostile Zombified Piglins.
- Magma Cubes.
- Other eligible hostile Nether creatures.
The bonus does not apply to players or creatures originating from the Overworld or the End.
This ability makes the Obsidianite Trident especially effective when exploring Nether Fortresses, Bastion Remnants, and other dangerous Nether environments.
19. Obsidianite Shield
The Obsidianite Shield is an advanced defensive item designed to complement the mod's most powerful equipment.

Its most important feature is its interaction with the Obsidianite Golem's devastating ranged attack.
Resistance III
The Obsidianite Shield grants permanent Resistance III as long as it is held in the main hand or offhand. The effect is automatically removed when the shield is unequipped. Simply keeping the shield in the inventory does not grant the effect.

Blocking the Obsidianite Golem's Energy Beam
Unlike ordinary shields, the Obsidianite Shield can block the Golem's purple energy beam and the Warden sonic boom.
This gives the Obsidianite Shield a unique role in advanced combat.

20. Rare Loot and Exploration
Obsidian Forged expands exploration by adding valuable materials to the loot tables of existing Minecraft structures.
Players can discover rare resources while exploring dangerous locations and opening treasure chests.
Available Rewards
Depending on the structure, players may find:
- Obsidian Ingots.
- Obsidianite Ingots.
- Obsidianite Upgrade Smithing Templates.
- Obsidian Horse Armor.
- Obsidian Nautilus Armor.
Rare Material Chances
Certain supported loot tables include rare material rewards:
Obsidian Ingot: 8% appearance chance.
Obsidianite Ingot: 1% appearance chance.
These rewards are available in selected structures, including Bastion Remnants, Ancient Cities, and End Cities.
The rarity of these items encourages exploration without eliminating the need for crafting and resource collection.
21. Advancements and Additional Features
Obsidian Forged includes several additional features designed to integrate with Minecraft's existing systems.
Obsidianite Armor Advancement
Equipping all four pieces of Obsidianite Armor simultaneously unlocks a special Challenge advancement.
The advancement uses Minecraft's distinctive challenge-style presentation.
Enchantments
Compatible tools, weapons, and armor support the vanilla enchantment system.
Equipment Repairs
Compatible equipment can be repaired through the appropriate Minecraft mechanics and materials.
Beacon Integration
Obsidianite Blocks can be used to construct Beacon pyramids, and Obsidianite Ingots can activate Beacon powers.
Fire and Lava Resistance
Dropped Obsidianite equipment is resistant to destruction by fire and lava.
This property does not automatically protect the player from fire damage unless the complete Obsidianite Armor set is equipped.
Vanilla Visual Style
The mod uses recognizable Minecraft-inspired pixel art with dark materials, purple highlights, and consistent equipment proportions.

23. Final Overview
Obsidian Forged transforms Obsidian into a valuable resource for advanced Minecraft progression.
With new crafting materials, powerful armor sets, improved tools, special weapons, rare loot, unique abilities, and the formidable Obsidianite Golem, the mod adds new challenges and rewards while preserving the original spirit of Minecraft.
