About this project
What does FarmBench add?
FarmBench
Built a farm and want to know if it's worth it? FarmBench copies your farm into a separate test dimension, runs it in fast-forward and tells you what it really produces per hour – usually within a minute or two. Your world is not changed: the test runs on a copy while your world keeps going normally.
What you get
- Yield per hour for every item, with the spread over several segments
- Spawns and deaths per hour for mob farms, plus experience per hour
- How much lag the farm causes (ms per tick)
- Warnings when the result may not match your world: light that differs (e.g. a roof outside the selection), full output chests, parts of the farm outside the simulation distance of your AFK spot, and the mob cap for mob farms
- A diagnosis when nothing comes out, e.g. "Never activated: Observer (5), Piston (5)" – so you see right away which part of your farm is broken
How to use it
- /farmbench wand – left-click one corner of the farm, right-click the opposite corner
- Sneak + right-click the output chest, then sneak + right-click the floor of your AFK spot
- /farmbench start – the result appears in chat
| Command | What it does |
| /farmbench start quick | 1 × 5 min of game time |
| /farmbench start | 3 × 20 min (three full Minecraft days) |
| /farmbench start long | 5 × 1 h – best for slow farms like sugar cane |
| /farmbench start custom <segments> <minutes> | your own length |
| … realistic | also copies everything within spawn range of the AFK spot (caves, mobs), so the mob cap behaves like in your world |
| /farmbench watch / leave | watch the test as a spectator |
| /farmbench status / stop / result / queue | progress, cancel, last result, waiting tests |
What gets copied
Blocks and their contents, scheduled redstone ticks, fluids, biomes, structures (witch huts, fortresses, monuments), mobs and villagers including their memory (beds, workstations, when they last slept). The test dimension has its own clock (day/night, moon phase, villager schedules) and a virtual AFK player that loads, simulates and spawns exactly like you do.
Good to know
- The test dimension is sealed off: no portals, no ender pearls, command blocks there do nothing, and nothing in it can reach real players or mobs. The real world's weather and time are not fast-forwarded.
- Not simulated: raids, phantoms, patrols, wandering traders and anything you operate by hand. Weather in the test is always clear.
- Texts in English and German, chosen by each player's game language.
Was it vibecoded? Yes. Is it still useful? Yes.
