About this project

What does Khaos Nexus add?

Khaos Nexus

Break the gates. Climb the Spire. Become a Paragon hunter.

Khaos Nexus is an anime-inspired, standalone RPG mod for Minecraft 1.21.1 (NeoForge), built to evolve with the other mods you install.

Features

  • Nexus Gates, ranked E to S: gates tear open near players a few times a day. Clear the mob wave, or step through into a themed dungeon instance with a boss, for loot by rank. Then the gate collapses.
  • Dungeon themes: Rift Bastion, Frostbound Crypt and Overgrown Ruin. Themes are picked by biome and fully data-driven.
  • Crimson Rifts and rift overflows: a rare Crimson Rift locks you in until you clear it, and its boss is stronger, but it pays double XP, bonus Rift Cores and a title. A gate nobody clears breaks open and spills its mobs into the world, and the server is warned.
  • Weekly modifiers: every week, A and S gates roll rotating modifiers (Glass Cannon, Ironhide, Frenzy and more) that pay bonus XP and cores.

Eight Hunter Classes

  • 8 hunter classes: Tank, Assassin, Caster, Ranger, Lifebinder, Berserker, Summoner and Necromancer, each with two keybound abilities and a skill tree. Upgrade power, cooldown and radius, take passives, and unlock a capstone at rank A.

Gates & Hunter Ranks

  • Hunter ranks E to S, then SS and Paragon: rank up with hunter XP. Past S, prestige ranks are earned by achievements: clear a Crimson Rift and climb the Spire. They grant a title, an aura and bonus skill points, and SS hunters can open SS gates.
  • Class mastery: XP earned at rank S fills a per-class mastery track (levels 1–50). Spend the points on sidegrade perks, where each perk pairs a gain with a cost. Respec any time.

Climb the Spire

  • The Nexus Spire: a tower in its own dimension. Each floor is 10 themed boss arenas, and the style changes floor by floor. Beat a level's guardian and its dormant rift-gate lights up to take you onward. Progress is saved mid-floor, so you can pick up where you left off. Craft a Spire Gate (crying obsidian, eyes of ender, Rift Cores and Rift Essence) to open your own way in. Server owners can set a minimum hunter rank to enter. Every floor opens with a safe town that has an Alchemist, an Armorer (stock scales with your floor and rank), a repair Smith and a checkpoint. Deep floors scale up endlessly, and each floor's final guardian rolls an affix.
  • Leaderboards: /khaosnexus top shows fastest clears per rank, Spire progress per season and weekly-modifier clears.
  • Cosmetic auras: particle auras unlocked by achievements, shown in the world and on the Hunter Card.
  • Raids for parties of up to 5, with personal loot and a lockout.
  • Hunter Card with profile, nearby gates, skills and forge tabs, plus a cooldown HUD. Get it from the Guild Clerk or a Guild Desk.
  • Hunter Forge: upgrade gear and class weapons with tiered materials, Rift Essence and Rift Cores.

Sculpted Bosses

  • Bosses: the Khaos Warden of the Rift and the Spire Guardian, each with special attacks and an enrage phase.

Compatibility (all optional)

Khaos Nexus runs on its own. Each mod below is detected at startup. If a version doesn't match, Khaos Nexus logs a warning and turns that one integration off, so the game still starts. Use /khaosnexus compat check to see what was found.

  • Relics: adds the Rift Hunter's Sigil, a necklace relic that levels up with Relics' own system. Rift Bane makes you hit rift mobs harder; Gate Ward, unlocked at relic level 5, makes rift mobs hit you softer. It can drop from gate dungeon chests. Needs Curios. Tested: 0.10.7.8 and 0.12.8.
  • Ars Nouveau: adds the Rift Rend glyph (void damage that hits rift mobs twice as hard and weakens them), the Gatesense glyph (shows the nearest open gate's rank and direction), a Rift Source Shard and Hunter Tomes. Tomes are spell books for the caster classes that upgrade as your hunter rank goes up. Ars attributes also feed into class bonuses. Tested: 5.13.3.
  • Artifacts: adds six rift curios. Four can drop in gate dungeons: Rift Lantern, Voidstep Anklet, Gatebreaker Band and Hunter's Lucky Coin. The Warden's Broken Chain and the Guardian's Plume are boss trophies, each with a 20% drop chance. Needs Curios. Tested: 13.2.5.
  • Curios: adds a Hunter Card slot, and a card worn there counts as carried. Tested: 9.5.1.
  • Apotheosis / Apothic Attributes: regular gate mobs get the Apotheosis world-tier for the gate's rank instead of yours, while gate bosses are protected from invader and affix changes. Apotheosis gems can drop in gate dungeon chests, and each class gets bonuses on Apothic attributes. Tested: Apotheosis 8.9.0, Apothic Attributes 2.11.0.
  • Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks: each class gets bonuses on Iron's spell attributes (spell power, mana, cooldowns and more). Not tested in this release.
  • L_Ender's Cataclysm / Mowzie's Mobs: their bosses can appear in gate dungeons with tuned health and damage. They can't break the arena floor, and anyone knocked into the void is put back. Cataclysm bosses only appear in S-rank gates unless the server config allows otherwise. Not tested in this release.
  • FTB Quests: Khaos Nexus progress (gate clears, ranks, Spire floors) is granted as stages, so FTB "Stage" tasks work. An advancement trigger, khaosnexus:hunter_event, works with any quest mod. Not tested in this release.

Every integration has an on/off switch in khaosnexus-server.toml.

Commands

/khaosnexus spire [enter|leave|checkpoint] · top <E..S|spire|weekly> · weekly · prestige · mastery [pick|reset] · aura [equip|clear] · title · party · bounty · class

Configuration

Everything is in khaosnexus-server.toml. The post-S content is in the [endgame] section and the tower in [spire]. Content is datapack-driven: gate modifiers, Spire themes, vendors and affixes, auras, mastery perks, dungeon themes, skill trees and forge tiers each live in a data/<namespace>/khaosnexus_* folder that you can override.

Coming in 1.1 (included, but switched off by default): boss rush, monthly challenge gates, Ascension and 8-player group raids. Server owners can try them early with the matching [endgame] toggles.

How to play

  1. Get a Hunter Card from the Guild Clerk, then pick a class (O).
  2. Find a Nexus Gate. Right-click it to start the wave, or step inside to enter its dungeon.
  3. Rank up, spend skill points on the Hunter Card (J), then take on the Spire with /khaosnexus spire enter.
