FST — Funny Skill Tree
Skill trees the vanilla way: skill books on a lectern turn into hologram trees. Study rooms, ability forks, a character hologram, a fisherman's table with modular rods & tridents, and a web editor for your own books.

About this project
What does FST — Funny Skill Tree add?
FST — Funny Skill Tree
Skill trees the vanilla way. No new menus bolted onto the inventory, no XP bars from another game: you find a skill book, put it on a lectern, and your study turns into a glowing hologram tree that everyone around can see. Learn skills with experience levels, build a real study room to unlock the deep branches, pick one ability per book — and show off your character hologram.
✨ Features
📚 Skill books on a lectern
- Put a skill book on a lectern and right click it — the tree appears above the lectern as a hologram. Shift + right click takes the book back.
- Every node costs experience levels and takes some time to study. The study keeps going while you do other things.
- Queue: Shift + click a skill — it is queued together with the whole path to it, and the skills are learned one after another. Right click removes a skill from the queue.
- Forks: some branches exclude each other — choose wisely (the game asks you to confirm).
🕯️ A study room matters
Study power is counted around the lectern (3 blocks):
- up to 9 bookshelves, up to 4 lit candles,
- 2 workstations of the book (a grindstone and a smithing table for the Warrior, a cartography table and a fletching table for the Explorer…).
The deeper the node, the more power it needs; the crown of a tree needs all 15. Power also speeds up studying. Blocks between you and the hologram are hidden while you study, so the tree is always readable.
⚔️ Five books out of the box
| Book | Workstations | Abilities (choose one) |
|---|---|---|
| Warrior | grindstone + smithing table | Ground Slam, Charge, War Cry |
| Miner | blast furnace + anvil | Seismic Survey, Stone Skin, Dynamite |
| Explorer | cartography table + fletching table | Wind Leap, Blink, Camp |
| Alchemist | cauldron + brewing stand | Fire Breath, Elixir, Potion Bomb |
| Angler | fisherman's table + conduit | Tidal Wave, Catch, Harpoon |
Books drop from fitting places: vindicators and weaponsmiths, mineshafts, buried treasure, witches, ocean ruins… The five books never repeat each other's bonuses — every book feels different.
🧍 Character hologram
The arrow next to the tree switches the hologram to your character: chosen abilities on the left, your model on a glowing pedestal in the middle, every bonus you earned (summed up) on the right.
🎣 Fisherman's table
A new workstation that villagers use as the fisherman's job site (instead of the barrel). It has 9 storage slots and an upgrade bench:
- Fishing rod (4 parts): grip (cloth / iron / netherite), reel (copper / gold), line (gilded / netherite-coated — fish in lava!), tip (iron / diamond / netherite). The rod's look changes with every part.
- Trident (2 parts):
- grips: sticky (riptide in water and rain), extender (+3 reach, a longer trident), netherite, turtle (block like a shield instead of throwing), wool (any colour, +20% durability, +100 tenderness);
- prongs: purpur (returns from the End void with End loot), netherite (dives into lava and brings loot back), nautilus (+40% damage, +160% under water), sharpened prismarine (look vanilla, bring a catch from water).
- No enchantment glint — parts work on their own.
🛠️ Make your own books (for servers and modpacks)
/skilltreebooks customopens a web editor in your browser (it runs locally from the game).- Edit nodes, effects (attributes from any mod, potions with conditions, 90 perks), abilities, workstations, loot sources — and the shape of the tree itself: 5 ready shapes (Classic, Sprout, Star, Twins, Ladder) or your own with drag & drop, links and forks.
- 33 active abilities to choose from, 18 of them exist only for custom books (Lightning, Arrow Rain, Spirit Wolves, Timber, Vein Miner, Grappling Hook, Recall and more).
- Books are plain JSON in
config/skilltree/booksor in datapacks;/skilltreebooks reloadapplies changes,/skilltreebooks folderopens the folder. - The editor follows the game language.
