About this project

What does SVR Engine add?

SVR Engine

Build skills. Animate combat. Bring your NPCs to life.

SVR Engine is a skill animation and combat NPC mod for Minecraft 1.21.1 on Fabric. Combine character animations with timed sounds, particles, and camera shake, then trigger them through Spell Engine spells, Better Combat attacks, or commands.

Create and preview skills directly in Minecraft using built-in timeline editors. Build custom enemies and guards with Blockbench models, animated attacks, and configurable combat behavior. The server stores your creations and synchronizes them with connected players.

Skills with impact

  • Combine Player Animator motions, sounds, particles, and camera shake in one skill.
  • Place effects at specific ticks using a visual timeline.
  • Link skills to Spell Engine spell releases or channeling, and Better Combat attacks.
  • Start skills manually with /svrengine play.
  • Includes 21 class-themed signature skills, with default spell links for supported RPG class mods. The corresponding mods are needed to use those spells.

Create inside the game

Press F6 to open the editor. Operator permission level 2 is required; enable cheats in single player.

  • Skill editor: create, copy, preview, and save skills; add or move sound, particle, motion, and shake events.
  • Player animation editor: create motions or import copies of existing Player Animator animations, then adjust keyframes, body parts, rotations, and easing.
  • Combat links editor: choose which spells and attacks trigger your skills.
  • NPC editor: configure names, models, factions, stats, appearance, and skill order, then spawn a saved NPC where you stand.
  • Model animation editor: edit supported keyframes and bone rotation, movement, and scale for NPC models. Molang expressions are preserved but are not editable here.

Preview changes before saving. Saved content is sent to connected players, so each player does not need a separate copy of your custom skill or model files.

Custom combat NPCs

Create hostile fighters, guards, or neutral NPCs using Blockbench models exported in GeckoLib format. Import geometry, textures, and optional animations through the in-game NPC editor.

  • Configure health, combat stats, skill cooldowns, range, and hit timing.
  • Build attacks with direct damage, area hits, or item-shaped projectiles.
  • Customize hitbox size, model scale, held items, and hidden model bones.
  • Combine model animations with skill sounds, particles, and camera shake.
  • Includes a knight and a knight guard to get started.

NPCs persist in the world and pick up saved definition changes. When Savaru Mob Control is installed, choose whether an NPC follows its targeting rules or attacks on sight.

Multiplayer and customization

Skills, player animations, NPC definitions, and models are stored on the server and synchronized when players join and after edits. Custom content can also be managed under config/svrengine/ and reloaded with /svrengine reload.

Install SVR Engine and its required dependencies on both the server and clients. Automatic content synchronization does not replace installing the mod.

Requirements

  • Minecraft 1.21.1, Fabric Loader 0.16.0+, and Java 21+
  • Fabric API
  • Player Animator 2.0.0+ for the supported Minecraft version
  • GeckoLib 4.9.0+ for the supported Minecraft version

Optional integrations: Spell Engine and Better Combat enable their respective combat links. They are not required for command-triggered skills or the core NPC system.

Quick start

  1. Install the mod and required dependencies.
  2. Join a world with operator permission, or enable cheats in single player.
  3. Press F6, select a skill, and preview it.
  4. Edit its timeline and save, or open NPCs to customize and spawn a fighter.

Useful operator commands:

/svrengine play <players> <skill>
/svrengine npc <npc>
/svrengine reload
