About this project
What does Server Mod Updater add?
ServerModUpdater
Keep your Minecraft server mods up to date — without manually checking hundreds of mod pages.
ServerModUpdater is a lightweight, server-side mod management utility for Minecraft 1.21.1 / NeoForge, developed by HardySofty.
It checks installed mods against Modrinth and CurseForge, identifies available updates, generates detailed reports, and allows server administrators to update their mods directly through Minecraft commands.
The mod also offers optional AutoModpack integration, making it especially useful for servers with large or customized modpacks.
Features
🔎 Update Detection
- Scan installed
.jarfiles for available updates. - Check both Modrinth and CurseForge.
- Match installed files against published mod versions.
- Find updates compatible with the Minecraft version and mod loader.
- Combine results from both platforms into a single entry, preserving both links.
- Leave unidentified and unsupported mods untouched.
📦 Mod Updates with Backup Protection
Update individual mods or multiple mods using server commands.
When installing an update, ServerModUpdater:
- Downloads the selected version.
- Verifies the downloaded file.
- Renames the previous
.jarfile to.jar.old. - Places the updated JAR in the original mod directory.
- Notifies the administrator that a server restart is required.
Updates can be installed while the server is running. New versions take effect after restarting the server.
Automatic dependency compatibility is not guaranteed. Administrators should review updates before installing them.
🔗 Optional AutoModpack Support
ServerModUpdater supports AutoModpack installations, including mod files stored in additional modpack directories and groups.
AutoModpack integration is disabled by default and can be enabled in the configuration:
enableAutoModpack=true
After updating AutoModpack-managed files, the mod reminds administrators to run:
/amp generate
Then restart the server to apply the changes.
📋 Detailed Update Reports
Generate Markdown and JSON reports containing:
- Installed and available versions.
- Links to Modrinth and CurseForge.
