Where it goes
Is Animated Universe required on the client, server, or both?

About this project
What does Animated Universe add?
Void Powers Become a legend. Start as a Mortal and earn your way up to six legends: Nightmare from EthanAnimatez's Sleepwalking, The Chosen One and The Dark Lord from Alan Becker's Animator vs. Animation, and Entity 303 and Herobrine from LJEK Animation's Royalty. Each has a cinematic moveset, their own weapons, full-body animations and screen-shaking effects. Then transform into a giant, or ascend.
A fan-made tribute. All characters belong to their creators: LJEK Animation, Alan Becker and EthanAnimatez. Please support their channels.
The characters Herobrine – Master of the void. Black holes that bend the light around them, a beam of pure void, blinking strikes and a colossal storm that hurls a black hole wherever he looks. Dual-wields the Void Reapers. Transforms into the Void Monarch. Void Beam · Singularity Bolts · Phantom Rush · Gravity Grip · Event Horizon · Accretion Storm
Entity 303 – Red-orange inferno. Lasers, chains of hellfire that drag foes in and explode, a phoenix dive and a supernova that leaves a crater the size of a village. Wields the Weeping King's Greatsword. Transforms into the Wither King. Inferno Laser · Blast Wave · Hellfire Chains · Phoenix Dive · Magma Eruption · Supernova
The Chosen One – The stick figure who broke free. Fire flight, laser vision, ice, tornadoes and a terrain-carving energy beam. Dual-wields the Fire Hands. Laser Vision · Fireball · Energy Punch · Iceberg · Tornado · Energy Beam
The Dark Lord – Corruption incarnate. Explosive orbs, a fan of Vira-Blades, fields of spikes and a blast that erases the landscape. Dual-wields the animated Vira-Blades. Explosive Fireball · Blade Split · Dark Orbs · Spike Field · Unstable Laser · Explosive Blast
Nightmare – Dream's cursed brother, driven by hatred and revenge. The red heart fires a crimson beam, his axe flies out on a chain to drag foes back, red lightning crawls over his body, and a spinning pillar of light falls from the sky to erase everything beneath it. Dual-wields Nightmare's Battle Axes, which leave glowing red afterimages with every swing. Heart Beam · Reaper's Reel · Energy Particles · Revenge Rush · Knockout Orb · Pillar of Light
Mortal – No powers, just skill. A boxer's four-hit combo bare-handed, a quick Sidestep dodge, and the basics any fighter knows. Power Strike · Sweep Kick · Combat Roll · Second Wind · Battle Cry · Rock Throw
Unlocking the legends (survival) Everyone starts as a Mortal. The legends unlock one after another, each costing XP levels: Nightmare (5), The Chosen One (10), Entity 303 (15), The Dark Lord (20) and finally Herobrine (30). Unlocks are yours for good, even through death. Creative mode skips it, costs are configurable, and operators can turn it off for the world with /progression false.
Awakening and Rage (survival) Herobrine and Entity 303 start dormant. Fill the Awakening meter by dealing and taking damage. When it's full they awaken until they die, gaining:
flight a permanent glowing aura Resistance V and Regeneration VII their three strongest moves Nightmare fills a Rage meter instead. Full rage leaves him Enraged: a lightning aura, Strength III, Speed II, Resistance III and his three strongest moves unlocked.
Transformations Once awakened, press G to transform into a titan five times your size, about 9 blocks tall:
The Wither King (Entity 303): a horned, skull-faced titan in blackened, ember-veined bone armour, with flanking skulls on his shoulders and huge black-and-orange wings. The Void Monarch (Herobrine): a jagged, void-armoured giant streaked with glowing purple, with a crowned skull face and taloned feet. The body assembles over you piece by piece and moves with every animation. Elbows and knees bend, arms fold and strike, and knees sink and stride. Everything scales with it: every effect, hit area, pull, beam and dash is five times as big, and reach, stride and speed grow to match. The giant wields its weapon in hand. Press G again to change back.
Ascension The Chosen One, the Dark Lord and Nightmare (once enraged) press G to ascend instead. Their bodies stay the same size, but every power is four times as big: areas, beams, pulls, dashes and effects. They also gain the giants' toughness (Resistance V, Regeneration VII) and crackle with energy in their colour. Nightmare can fly while unbound.
Weapons Every legend gets their own weapon, with a five-hit combo, a plunging air attack and a right-click special:
Void Reapers (Herobrine, one in each hand): long arcs of void, a soul hook that drags foes in, and a two-turn death whirl. Right-click flings void crescents. Weeping King's Greatsword (Entity 303): two-handed molten blows that cleave, sweep and split the ground in a line of fire. Right-click sends out a searing wave of flame. Vira-Blades (Dark Lord, one on each arm): crossing cuts, twin thrusts and a blade cyclone. Right-click throws blades. Fire Hands (Chosen One): burning fists for jabs, hooks, palms, kicks and a meteor dive. Battle Axes (Nightmare): heavy chops, a cyclone, and an executioner's drop. The 3D weapons leave glowing swing trails along the blade's path while attacking.
Combat Six moves per character on one key: hold H and scroll to choose, press R to use. Hold R for beams, as long as you like. Realistic, anime-paced hand-to-hand: every strike is animated like a real blow (load, strike, follow-through, recovery), with the hips leading and the weight behind it. Five-hit combos end in a launcher, then air chases, juggles and a slam into the ground. Sprint-attack for a rushing blow. Dash (Alt) in any direction, held to chain dashes, leaving after-images and an energy trail. Every character is untouchable while dashing. Lock-on (X): the camera tracks your target and every move aims at it. Beam clashes: beams that cross throw off sparks, and two beams fired at each other lock together in the middle until one player gives up. Use your beam to block theirs. Player vs player: powers pierce Resistance, but no single hit can take more than 30% of a player's health, so legends wear each other down instead of one-shotting. Superb Warfare vehicles: every power damages them, and beams cut through them in seconds. Cinematic effects Impact frames and camera shake on every big hit. Real light distortion: black holes lens the world behind them, and shockwaves ripple the air. 3D beams with animated textures that reach as far as you can see (your render distance), killing and carving through everything in their path. 3D projectiles: fireballs, dark orbs, energy orbs and singularity bolts fly as real models and blow holes in whatever they hit. 20–40 block destruction that tears outward across the land (respects mobGriefing and can be turned off). Full-body animations for every move, idle, walk, run, sneak and flight, unique to each character. Photon-powered particles and a toggleable glowing outline (O) in your character's colour. Works with shader packs (Oculus / Iris). Controls Key Action Y Choose character R Use the selected move (hold for beams) H + scroll Choose a move G Transform / ascend Left Alt Dash (hold to chain) X Lock on O Toggle outline All keys can be rebound in Controls.
Settings Mods → Void Powers → Config (or Settings on the character screen) covers:
the move bar's position (above the hotbar, left, right, top or anywhere), its size and full names impact frames, camera shake, light distortion and dash effects particle density and beam volume lock-on Server owners can set cooldown and damage multipliers, block breaking and more in voidpowers-common.toml.
