About this project
What does A Touch of Class add?
Read the full manual for the latest version here: A Touch of Class for MC 26.3
A Touch of Class adds architectural finishes, furniture, lighting, kitchen and bathroom fittings, tall doors that are optionally lockable using custom made keys, and elevators!
This mod is basically all the things I wanted to have for building large classy-looking houses and mansions. A lot of effort was put into jiving with vanilla rather than clashing with it, including supporting vanilla wood types and dye colors where applicable.
Notable highlights that go beyond simple cosmetics include:
- An overlay system implemented at the rendering level, to allow applying wallpaper / veneers / plaster / etc, without disturbing or affecting the underlying block(s)
- A simple key/lock crafting system (requiring use of a key cutter machine) for keying doors and keys together.
- An elevator construction system, allowing players to construct multi-floor elevators in-game. There are no moving parts, it's just a teleportation mechanism dressed up and hidden behind a lockout-per-player-per-shaft mechanism. The nature of the system allows for construction of custom sized/shaped elevator cabins.
The cosmetic features include:
- New brick variant "buff brick" (including stairs, slabs, walls)
- Window and door casing / trim, window panes with muntins, crown molding, and baseboards
- Window boxes, and "bunched" flowers for planting in window boxes
- Wainscoting, several wallpapers, brick and buff brick siding, plaster, and stucco overlays
- Round(ish) and square architectural columns
- Shutters and brick / buff brick window ledges
- Stochastic block placement system for randomization of natural texture patterns (currently used by marble tile and calcite tile)
- Railings, balusters and newel posts, including support for diagonal placement along stairs
- Tall (3 block) doors (including glass sidelights, transoms, and patio doors) with double-door support and keying support
- Leather chairs, sofas, and loveseats
- Dining chairs and dining tables (merge-able for custom table sizes and shapes)
- Side tables, nightstands, dressers, and four-post beds
- Wooden cabinets (door and drawer styles, door styles are stackable and merge vertically)
- Counters/worktops and sinks in a variety of materials, including farmhouse-style ktichen sink in stainless steel
- Kitchen appliances include induction cooktop, wall oven, and refrigerator
- Bathroom furnishings include a sittable toilet, large clawfoot bathtub, and everything needed to build custom glass showers (panels, doors, and 2 different types of shower heads)
- Oxidizable and waxable copper lighting fixtures including lamp posts, floor lamps, desk lamps, wall sconces, ceiling light fixtures and chandeliers, all compatible with sodium/iris light sources
In all, this mod currently adds 700 registered player-available items. All items are available in survival via crafting,
