About this project
What does Modular Machinery: Continuum add?
Modular Machinery: Continuum (MMC)
Create custom multiblock machines and recipes for your modpack.
Modular Machinery: Continuum is a Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge port and continuation of Modular Machinery Community Edition 2.3.2, providing modpack authors with tools to design custom machines, recipes, and processing systems.
Features
- Custom multiblock machines — Define machine structures and recipes using JSON.
- Factory processing — Configure independent recipe threads and batch processing. Each recipe can occupy at most one thread per factory.
- Resource handling — Item, fluid, and Forge Energy inputs and outputs.
- Machine customization — Smart interfaces, upgrades, and recipe modifiers.
- Structure previews — Interactive 3D blueprints, layered world projections, and survival auto-assembly.
- Visual recipe editing — Edit existing machine names and recipes through an in-game GUI.
- CraftTweaker support — Create recipes and customize machine behavior through scripts.
- Animated machines — Bind GeckoLib models and animations to custom machines.
Machine structures can be created through JSON, the construction tool, or registration commands. The visual editor works with existing machines.
Optional Integrations
| Mod | Integration |
|---|---|
| JEI | Recipe viewing, structure previews, and projection controls |

Experimental integrations are also available for specific community builds of Astral Sorcery and Extra Utilities Rebirth. See the repository documentation for supported versions and limitations.
Optional integrations require their respective mods and dependencies.
Getting Started
- Install Minecraft 1.20.1 and Forge.
- Install MMC on both the client and server.
- Add machine definitions to
config/modularmachinery/machinery/. - Add recipe definitions to
config/modularmachinery/recipes/. - Run
/reloadafter changing machine or recipe definitions.
Administrators can open the visual editor with:
/modularmachinery gui
GeckoLib Forge 4.8.4 is bundled. A separate installation is not required.
Custom models, textures, and animations must be supplied by the modpack author. Documentation, configuration examples, and CraftTweaker examples are included in the source repository.
Compatibility
- The base mod has been tested with Forge 47.3.0.
- The full integration setup has been tested with Forge 47.4.23.
- The supported Extra Utilities Rebirth 1.7.3 integration requires the tested Forge 47.4.23 setup.
- The original Modular Machinery and Community Edition are not required.
- The internal mod ID remains
modularmachinery. - Minecraft 1.12.2 configurations and scripts may require changes before use.
Updating from Modular Machinery Reborn? Replace the old JAR with MMC. Do not install both together.
Current Limitations
This port does not yet implement every feature of the original mod.
- Aspect, GP, and Impetus interfaces remain placeholders and do not process those resources.
- Rainbow generator detection uses adjacent generator activity rather than the original player-frequency network.
- Community Astral Sorcery support targets a specific source build; other ports are not automatically compatible.
