About this project
What does Iourus Revive add?
Iourus Revive
A complete downed, revival, and death penalty system for Minecraft.
Iourus Revive reworks Minecraft's traditional death mechanics by introducing a downed state, cooperative revivals, healing-based recovery, and configurable death penalties.
When a player's health reaches zero, death is no longer immediate. Teammates have a limited opportunity to intervene, while fallen players must decide whether to use their resources, attempt a risky recovery, or accept the consequences of death.
Built for multiplayer survival, RPG servers, and medieval fantasy modpacks, Iourus Revive adds meaningful consequences to combat without relying on complete inventory loss.
Features
Downed & Revival System
Players enter a temporary incapacitated state when their health reaches zero, allowing nearby teammates to rescue them before the countdown expires.
- Configurable downed duration: 30 seconds by default.
- Cooperative revival: Other players can revive incapacitated teammates.
- Interaction-based recovery: Rescuers must maintain interaction until the revival is complete.
- Interruptible revivals: Interrupted attempts reset the revival progress.
- Visual feedback: Dedicated countdown and revival progress indicators.
- Penalty-free rescue: Successfully revived players avoid death penalties.
Healing Potion Recovery
Players carrying an Instant Health potion can use it to recover from the downed state without assistance.
- Consume an Instant Health potion to revive yourself.
- Restore 3 hearts upon recovery.
- Avoid standard death penalties.
- Limited to one potion-based revival per recovery cycle.
- Configurable recovery settings.
This provides an additional survival option for players exploring dangerous areas without teammates.
Last Chance — Risk-Based Survival
When no healing potion is available, incapacitated players can attempt to survive through a probability-based recovery system.
| Mechanic | Default Value |
|---|---|
| Initial survival probability | 10% |
| Health restored on success | 3 hearts |
| Probability after success | Reduced by 50% |
| Penalty after failure | 200% of normal penalty |
| Recovery period | 5 minutes of active gameplay |
Successful recoveries reduce the probability of surviving subsequent attempts. Survival opportunities gradually recover through continued gameplay.
All relevant probabilities and recovery settings can be customized.
Configurable Death Penalties
Iourus Revive introduces a resource-based death penalty system that provides an alternative to Minecraft's traditional inventory loss.
Currency is prioritized before inventory items.
- Currency is deducted first when calculating death penalties.
- Insufficient currency can result in random inventory item losses.
- Items not selected by the penalty system remain with the player.
- Lost currency and items are dropped into the world and can be recovered.
- Configurable penalty amounts and item loss limits.
- Support for protected items and equipment.
- Failed survival attempts apply an increased penalty.
This system creates consequences for death while allowing players to retain most of their accumulated progress.
Custom Currency Support
The death penalty system supports configurable item-based currencies, allowing integration with different modded economies.
Default currency configuration — Iourus Ores
| Currency | Value |
|---|---|
| Copper Coin | 1 |
| Silver Coin | 128 |
| Gold Coin | 16,384 |
Server administrators can define alternative currency items and exchange values using the configuration files.
Iourus Ores is optional. Iourus Revive can operate independently using customized currency definitions.
Multiplayer & Cooperative Gameplay
The revival system is designed for cooperative multiplayer environments.
- Rescue incapacitated teammates during combat.
- Coordinate revivals in dangerous situations.
- View synchronized revival progress.
- Prevent death penalties through successful rescues.
- Server-authoritative validation of revival actions.
These mechanics are particularly suited to dungeon exploration, group encounters, and RPG-oriented survival servers.
Custom Revival Interface
Iourus Revive includes a dedicated interface for incapacitated players and their rescuers.
- Circular survival countdown.
- Downed-player animations.
- Adjusted camera perspective.
- Interactive survival decisions.
- Confirmation prompts.
- Revival progress indicators.
- English and Spanish localization.
