About this project
What does OVERLOAD - tech add?
OVERLOAD
OVERLOAD is a tech mod about wiring. Every cable has a rating, and if you push more than that through it for too long, it heats up, burns out, and the fire spreads to the next cable in the line. Burnt cable can't be repaired. You rip it out, lay a new piece, and take the leftovers to a Recycler. Circuit Breakers will cut the line before that happens, if you remembered to put them in.
Overload to move up a tier
Everything is built in a Machine Assembler, and you make the first one by hand. To reach the next tier, you switch your assembler to Overload and have it build something it normally couldn't. It's slow and it eats a huge amount of power, but it works. Overload once for an Advanced Part Manufacturer, again for an Advanced Machine Assembler, and from then on advanced machines are quick to make. Industrial works the same way.
What's in it
- Power: Combustion Generators, Bio Generators that burn pressed plants, Gasoline Generators, and a Gas Turbine that only takes Purified Gasoline
- Oil: find a vein with the Oil Probe, pump it, refine it into Gasoline and Tar, and purify it for better fuel and Plastic
- Machines in three grades: Basic, Advanced and Industrial. Crushers, Rolling Mills, Electric Furnaces, an Arc Furnace for titanium, and more
- Grid tools: High-Voltage Cable and Transformers for long runs, and a Multimeter that shows load, temperature and whether you're about to run short
- Ore Drill: stack three Drill Frames on it and it pulls raw ore out of the deep rock for as long as it has power. Overworld only, and very hungry
- Storage and wireless: Accumulators, a Battery Bank you can build in any shape, Energy Transmitters, a Personal Transmitter that charges nearby players, and a Charging Station
- Gear: a Power Harness with Jetpack and Solar modules, Goggles that show what's inside chests and machines, and Robotic Arms for extra reach
Advancements walk you through the whole thing, from your first Hammer to the Gas Turbine.
Good to know
- Minecraft 26.1.2 on NeoForge 26.1.2.114 or newer
- JEI is optional. If you have it, the machine recipes show up in it
- Input and Output Connectors move FE between your grid and other mods' blocks
- Most numbers are configurable, and you can turn cable burn-out off if fires aren't your thing
Recommended
Curios API is optional, but it works well alongside OVERLOAD. With it installed, the Goggles, Robotic Arm, Power Harness and Batteries go into Curios slots.
