About this project

What does Auto Tool Refill add?

Auto Tool Refill

Tired of your axe breaking in the middle of chopping a forest, and having to open your inventory to grab the next one?

Auto Tool Refill instantly moves a matching tool from your inventory into the same hotbar slot, when the tool in your hand breaks, so you can keep working without missing a beat.

How it works

  1. You're mining, chopping or fighting with a tool in your main hand.
  2. The tool breaks.
  3. The mod looks through your inventory and puts a replacement into your selected hotbar slot. Done.

The mod picks the replacement in this order:

  • Exact match first: an Iron Axe is replaced by another Iron Axe if you have one.
  • Same tool type second: if there's no identical tool, any tool of the same kind is used (for example, an Iron Axe is replaced by a Diamond Axe).

If you don't carry a suitable replacement, nothing happens, just like in vanilla.

Supported tools

  • Axes
  • Pickaxes
  • Shovels
  • Hoes
  • Swords

Features

  • Works whenever a tool breaks: mining, chopping, digging or in combat
  • Only affects your main hand, your offhand is left alone
  • No keybinds, no menus, no configuration needed, it just works
  • Lightweight: the mod only does something at the moment a tool breaks

Multiplayer

The mod runs on the server side.

  • Singleplayer: just install it like any other mod.
  • Servers: install it on the server. Players can join without having the mod installed themselves.
