LoadShift
Set an FPS target and LoadShift adjusts your graphics and shader settings to hit it.
Quick answer
Which LoadShift release should I use?
loadshift-0.4.5+26.3.jar targets 26.3 with Fabric. The project page does not say whether this file belongs on the client, dedicated server, or both. All 1 required mods have matching files.
Where it goes
Is LoadShift required on the client, server, or both?
The project page does not say whether this file belongs on the client, dedicated server, or both.
The source does not explicitly classify this release as client-only or server-only.
What else does loadshift-0.4.5+26.3.jar need?
loadshift-0.4.5+26.3.jar. Change the file and its required mods may change too.
Install Fabric API first. We found matching files for this game-version and loader setup.
We only count dependency files that match this setup. A file for another loader does not fill the gap.

About this project
What does LoadShift add?

Automatic FPS Target Balancing
Set an FPS target and LoadShift adjusts your graphics settings to hit it. It reads live CPU and GPU data to find out what is actually slowing your game down, and changes the settings that matter for that.
LoadShift is active right after install with a target of 120 FPS and starts adjusting your video settings when you join a world. Change the target with /loadshift target <fps> or turn it off with /loadshift off.
Your settings stay yours: every change is logged (/loadshift status), and /loadshift revert puts everything back and switches LoadShift off.
What you get
- Best quality at your target FPS. When your game runs faster than the target, LoadShift raises quality. When it drops below, it lowers the setting that costs the most on whatever is limiting you (GPU or CPU). It only raises a setting when it predicts the FPS will hold, so it doesn't keep flipping back and forth.
- Shader tuning without freezes (Iris). LoadShift switches between your shader pack's quality profiles (BSL, Complementary and similar). The new shaders are prepared and compiled in the background while you play, so the switch itself takes about 0.4 s instead of several seconds. It also prepares the Nether and End shaders, so server world switches don't hang in the loading screen.
- Never at a dangerous moment. Anything that could interrupt the game only happens when you are safe: not in combat, not falling, not flying with an elytra, not in lava, and only with 8 or more hearts. Longer interruptions (like turning shaders on) wait for the pause menu.
- Respects your changes. If you lower a setting yourself, LoadShift won't raise it above your value. If you raise one, it won't go below it. This lasts until you restart the game, turn LoadShift off and on, or set a new target.
- Smart render distance. Never below 4 chunks. If it was lowered while you were flying, riding or using an elytra, it comes back as soon as you slow down.
- Remembers your worlds and servers. A stable setup is saved per world or server and used as the starting point next time.
- Plays well with others. Works with Sodium, Iris, Voxy and Distant Horizons. With Voxy, your LODs stay loaded during shader changes. Sodium's own settings are never touched. Gets the most out of shaders.
- Analyzer HUD (F8). Shows FPS, GPU/CPU load and what is limiting your game, with a tip on what to change.
Settings LoadShift can change
Render distance, entity distance, particles, clouds, cloud range, weather radius, Improved Transparency, cutout leaves, entity shadows, ambient occlusion, biome blend, FPS cap, shaders on/off and the shader pack's quality profile. Each one can be disabled in config/loadshift.json.
Commands
/loadshift on | off | status | target <fps> | revert | diag
Also available as a settings screen through Mod Menu.
Requirements
- Minecraft 26.3, Fabric Loader ≥ 0.19.5, Fabric API, Java 25
