About this project
What does Continuum (Space) add?
Continuum is the PhoenixSuite space mod made to serve as a galactic exploration system without a focus on actually landing on the dimensions for resources.
Resources are gathered through upgradeable rockets sent to certain bodies.
By default there is an example system that you can access and then survey them to be able to actually extract resources from them.
Bodies are grouped together in systems accessible through the central map screen. Each system has a central body and then a bunch of smaller orbiting bodies.
Each body can have a personal dimension on it that has the bodies/body rings in the skybox.
All of this is data driven so you can make your own systems as you see fit, or use the /continuumadmin create command to generate some systems from your world's seed.
There is also an ingame tuner for every body so you can see how everything happens ingame.
There are graphics quality settings and even a cube mode for those who enjoy more pixelated views.
The available central and orbiting body types are included below
Central Bodies
Star: A normal star of any color/size. Red Giant: A broken and dying star that is huge and red. Brown Dwarf: A failed star that isn't very bright. Rapid Rotator: A neutron star spinning so fast it bulges in the middle. Black Hole: A classic blackhole with an accretion disk and einstein lensing. Quasar: A blackhole with twin jets that shine extremely brightly. Binary Black Hole: Two blackholes together with a shared mass ratio. Pulsar: A star with spinning poles of light with a strong magnetic field. Wolf Rayet Star: A star with incredibly strong solar winds. Protostar: A star inside a ring of it's future planets. Planetary Nebulae: A broken star giving off itself as mass. Dyson Sphere: A star fully contained in a bright shell. Dyson Shell: A star contained within a bunch of mirrors.
Any of these can be put together with one other to form dual systems.
Orbiting body types
Planets, moons, and transient bodies are basic types with a lot of customization power.
Rockets
There is one main rocket item and a bunch of upgrades. Furthermore, extraction missions require an extraction probe.
Hull Kit T2-4: T1 is base rocket and each tier reduces wear, increases mission speed, increases mission drops, allows more upgrades, and allows you to visit higher tier bodies.
Reinforced Hull Plating: Each one installed reduces rocket wear per trip by 25%. Up to 3 per rocket
Overdrive Module: Each one speeds up missions by 10%. Up to 5 per rocket.
Hull Interlock Module: Max of 1 and makes a rocket refuse to lift off when it's broken enough to fail it's mission. Without this rockets will fail and lose their extraction probe when they are worn down enough.
Stellar/Singularity Shielding. These upgrades are locked to t2/3 hull levels respectively and allow you to visit/extract resources from stars and blackholes.
Repair Kit: Each one repairs 30% wear to a rocket.
