Friendly Enderman
Current version: 0.9.7 · Minecraft 26.3 · Fabric
Hi! I'm the dev, still working on these features and adding new ones. I update this checklist as I go and tick each item off when it's done for its release, so stay tuned. ✅ means that feature is finished.
🗺️ ROADMAP
- ✅ More lines for Endrina: over 13,000 new lines for actions and situations she didn't react to yet. (Now: 1,000+ situations, 24,000+ lines) 0.9.7
- ✅ Every creature she sees, kills you make, animals you breed, raids and danger
- ✅ Bosses (Ender Dragon, Wither, Warden, Elder Guardian) get extra lines
- ✅ Baby monsters (baby zombies, husks, drowned, piglins, hoglins, zombie villagers) get their own lines
- ✅ A mob hurting her, zombies banging on and breaking down a door
- 🔄 More life for wild Enderers and their children: (Now: 200 conversations, 7,288 lines · 1,300+ reactions, 35,000+ lines)
- ✅ Babies have their own voice, play games, sing and listen to bedtime stories 0.9.7
- ⬜ Babies get their own conversations with Mom, Dad and each other 1.0.0
- ⬜ Your tamed babies get their own conversations, with each other, with Endrina and with your other tamed Enderers 1.0.0
- ✅ Endrina reads the room: when you're in danger, she puts it first. Low health, a creeper next to you or drowning comes before chatting about snow or thunder, and her small talk waits until the fight is over. 0.9.7
- 🔄 New looks for wild Enderwomen: 8 new hairstyles by ILoveBluBerry are in the mod (test command for now). Next: wild Enderwomen spawn with them. Endrina keeps hers. 1.0.0
- ⬜ Enderers sleep at night: tamed Enderers lie down and sleep, Endrina most of all, with her own sleeping pose. Babies curl up near their mother. They wake when you come close, get hit, or a monster shows up. 1.x
- ⬜ Heart-to-heart talks with Endrina: after she learns your language, she starts real conversations with you at trust milestones (40, 50, 65, 75, 90 and 100). These are about the two of you, in order, not random lines. 1.x
- ⬜ Quests and cutscenes for Endrina and the Enderers, with a story-driven plot. I'm planning over 100 quests and cutscenes, so this will take a while. While a cutscene plays, monsters won't see or attack you or Endrina. I haven't started yet, and it won't be part of 1.0.0. It comes out once it's all done and I'm happy with it. 1.x
- ⬜ Dialogue wheel, like in Fallout 4. You choose what to say and talk back to Endrina and to random Enderers. This adds about 15,000 lines across both. It will be its own small library mod, so other mods can use it too. Coming after the major release. 2.0.0
- ⬜ Jade support: look at an Enderer and see its trust, mode and family. 1.0.0
- More on the way! Got an idea? Leave a comment and I'll add it to the checklist.
Have you ever wanted to tame the tallest creature in all of Minecraft? Well, welcome to the wacky mod of Friendly Enderman.
Rescue Endrina, a tied-up enderer, from a pillager camp. She follows you, guards you, rides with you, and talks about almost everything you do.
💜 Meet Endrina
Character inspired by the artist Kaiarts
Somewhere in a pillager outpost lies a map to a pillager camp, and there an enderer is tied up. Break her free and she's yours: a companion who walks with you, fights for you, and has something to say about nearly everything.
🗨️ She talks. A lot. Like, really A LOT!
- Over 24,000 lines across more than 1,000 situations: she reacts to all 66 biomes, every structure, 94 creatures, weather, your health, your armor, every food you eat or feed her, what you mine, craft, smelt and build, your advancements, your stats, and more. Just like the Villager News add-on, but way bigger!!!
- Speech that feels alive: her lines show as captions just above your hotbar, with her name, and she looks at whatever she's talking about. She even uses gestures with her lines: nodding, waving, shrugging, pointing, covering her face…
- She reads the room: in danger (low health, a creeper, lava, drowning, a raid) her warnings come first, and the small talk waits until it's over.
- Her own language: below 25 trust she only speaks Ender, which you can't understand, and half the time she's saying things because you can't understand. Once she learns your language, she gives you 101 little Ender lessons, and finishing them all earns her Phrasebook. She also keeps a book of every secret she told you in Ender.
- No repeats: a line she just said won't come back for a day. Any NPC repeating the same thing over and over gets annoying, so I made sure there's enough dialogue to keep her fresh.
- Idle talk: every few minutes she just… talks. About her past, about the two of you, jokes, random thoughts. By a campfire, at bedtime, by the sea, or riding together she has her own things to say.
- Bedtime stories: at nightfall, stay near her and she tells you a story. 📖
🔍 Everything she reacts to
- Her own kills, which mob hurt her, and how you died (15 ways)
- Your pets: when one dies, she says its name
- Farming and animal care: milking, shearing, bone meal, name tags…
- Exploring: archaeology, sherds, vaults, maps, compasses, lodestones
- Anvils, grindstones, smithing, armor trims, looms, cartography
- Heights and depths: build height, bedrock, the Nether roof, the edge of the void
- The moon's phases, midnight, long nights without sleep
- Every food (32 lines each, both ways), every biome, every structure
- Multiplayer: she remembers other players, makes friends, and doesn't like the ones who hit her
Oh, and by the way, I couldn't write those thousands of lines without the help of AI. I tried to, but it's not possible without it. I checked all the dialogue, approved it, and debugged all of it.
👥 The other enderers talk too!
- Conversations: wild enderers chat with each other in speech bubbles: couples, parents and kids, strangers, nitwits. 200 conversations (7,000+ lines) about the world, about danger… and about you.
- Reactions: 1,300+ Villager News style reactions to mobs, weather, blocks you place or break, what you wear and what you do.
- They live their lives: in the rain they find cover under trees and porches and sit it out together. In bright sun they walk to the shade.
- Endrina joins in: she chats with wild ones, babies and your other tamed enderers, and if a wild one comes after you, she steps in and defends you.
- Speech bubbles stay above their heads even with F1, which is great for screenshots and videos. 📸
🍼 NEW in 0.9.7: Baby enderers come alive!
Babies now have their own voice: 14,000+ baby-only lines about their firsts, their family, the sky, every biome, every mob, music discs and more. They answer each other, and the grown-ups answer them.
🎮 They play games
Every few minutes, babies near each other start a game, with their parents watching nearby (Dad follows the kids, Mom follows Dad).
🕹️ All the games
| Game | Where | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| 🏃 Tag | Anywhere | Classic chase |
| ✨ Teleport tag | Anywhere | Tag with short purple hops |
| 🙈 Hide and seek | Overworld | Up to 8 babies. The seeker closes its eyes and counts, the hiders run to real cover and sit. The seeker really searches, and giggles give hiders away! |
| 🚂 Follow the leader | Anywhere | Copy the leader |
| 🌸 Flower hunt | Overworld | Who finds a flower first? |
| 🎵 Sing-along | Anywhere | Music notes and note sounds |
| 🏁 Race | The End | Line up, tick-tick-tick-DING, best of 3 |
| 👀 Staring contest | The End | No blinking! |
| 🍇 Chorus hunt | The End | Find the chorus fruit |
| 🦘 Jumping contest | The End | 3 jumps each, highest wins |
| 🫵 Player tag | Anywhere | A baby comes to play tag with you. Right-click to tag it back! |
🎶 They sing: 108 songs
86 songs and 22 lullabies: classic nursery rhymes plus Minecraft versions like "Three Blind Endermites", "Hot Chorus Fruit" and "Twinkle Twinkle Ender Eye".
📖 Bedtime stories: 56 of them
At nightfall, a mother sings a lullaby or tells a story (sometimes Dad does). Every baby within 32 blocks comes (up to 16). They sit in a circle facing the teller, react ("Then what happened?!"), and get sleepy at the end.
- In the End and the Nether (no night there), babies get sleepy after playing for a while. The Nether only gets gentle stories, and the babies huddle closer.
- Babies tell stories to each other during the day.
- Endrina tells you one at nightfall. In the End or the Nether, rest near her for a bit.
📚 Some of the stories
- Classics, retold: The Tortoise and the Hare, The Lion and the Mouse, The Three Little Pigs, Goldilocks, The Ugly Duckling, Jack and the Beanstalk, Puss in Boots, Rumpelstiltskin, Peter Rabbit, Momotaro, Anansi and the Pot of Wisdom, Beauty and the Beast… (40 in all)
- Minecraft stories: The Kid Who Cried Creeper, Goldilocks and the Three Endermen, The Iron Golem and the Silverfish, The Dragon Who Couldn't Sleep, How the Enderman Got His Pearl, The Shulker Who Wanted to See the Stars… (16 in all)
❤️ Trust (-100 to +100)
How she talks depends on how much she trusts you:
| Trust | She… |
|---|---|
| below 0 | is angry with you |
| 0 – 24 | speaks only Ender |
| 25 – 49 | is cold and guarded |
| 50 – 74 | is herself |
| 75 – 100 | gets chatty and teases you; at 100 she says things she won't say to anyone else |
Earn trust by feeding her (each food is worth its own amount), petting her, giving her flowers and gifts, fighting side by side, and keeping her safe. Hitting her is not recommended. A trust bar takes the place of your XP bar whenever it changes. Just remember that getting to +100 might take 10 hours, no speedrunning.
🤝 Things to do together
- Modes: Sit, Follow, Wander or Guard. Or just tell her in chat:
Endrina stay, hey come,Endrina what's that… Sometimes she kisses you 0w^ (depending on the trust meter) - Feed her: chorus fruit, or any food you can eat. Inspired by Kaiarts, 'cause she eats a lot. At full health she takes her time with a proper meal.
- Ride together: at 50 trust she climbs on behind you on a horse, donkey, mule, camel or happy ghast, with her arms around your waist.
- Pet her, put a flower on her head, dress her in outfits (inspired by Kaiarts again!), or give her haircuts (her hair grows back after 3 days).
- Dance: play a music disc and she dances, with her own dance for each disc.
- Iron and snow golems leave tamed enderers alone. Turns out they attack endermen no matter what, which is how I lost mine ;(
- She brings you gifts like ore blocks, and at high trust she might kiss you ;)
👨👩👧 A whole Enderer family
This mod was originally made for exactly this: being able to tame normal enderers (male and female ender).
- Endermen and Enderwomen: enderers come as male or female, which the base game lacks, each with their own model.
- Babies: enderers can have little ones, smaller versions of the adults, either male or female, and they sometimes breed on their own, so keep watch on them. Female-female or male-male pairs won't breed.
- Family roles: an enderwoman can have between 1 and 3 babies, and all babies follow their mother. The father plays his role as protector, and both the babies and the enderwoman follow him. Don't forget that zombies sometimes attack babies and the adults defend them. If you hit one of their kids, they'll gang up on you.
- Nitwits: nitwits are a different kind, and they make up 50% of the enderer population. They aren't affected by taming or calming (non-nitwits can be calmed with a golden apple). They're the same in terms of family and babies (a baby nitwit can't be adopted by a non-nitwit. Yes, babies can be adopted).
- Tame any enderer: not just Endrina. Tamed enderers follow you, wander, guard and stay by your side. Taming babies is hard: you have to tame the baby's mother. Tamed babies still join the wild ones' games!
🎬 Animations (built in!)
Install Entity Model Features (EMF) and the animation pack turns on by itself, no separate download. Breathing, smooth poses, gestures, expressions, blushing, closed eyes, talking mouths (nitwits too!). Without EMF the mod works fine, just with simpler animations.
⚙️ Settings (Mod Menu, optional)
- Endrina: chattiness, rare lines, captions, and how often her Ender lessons come
- Wild enderers: conversations on/off, how often they talk, reactions on/off
- Other: tamed enderers picking up blocks on/off, debug log
- 🆕 "Your hits can't hurt your tamed enderers": your punches, arrows and tridents won't hurt them or cost trust (off by default)

🤖 AI disclosure
Parts of this mod's code, fixes and dialogue were written with help from an AI assistant (Claude). I designed the mod, made the decisions, tested everything in game and edited the result. Endrina's character and the ideas behind her are mine. And since no one made a mod like this, I had to make one for myself, and release it to you NERDS to have fun.
