About this project
What does Rampart add?
🏰 Rampart — entity model and animation library
A library for NeoForge and Fabric, Minecraft 1.21.1, 26.1.2, 26.2 and 26.3. It carries the entity model and animation code of Citadel that our ports of Alexthe666's mods need (Rats, later Ice and Fire). Install it only when a mod asks for it: on its own it adds nothing to the game.
📜 Original code
Rampart contains part of Citadel by Alexthe666, gegy1000 and iLexiconn. Original source: github.com/AlexModGuy/Citadel, license GNU LGPL (as declared in Citadel's mod metadata), which allows derivative works. Rampart is under LGPL-3.0-only.
How Rampart differs from Citadel
- Fabric and 26.x: Citadel has no Fabric build and no builds for Minecraft 26.x; Rampart runs on NeoForge and Fabric for 1.21.1, 26.1.2, 26.2 and 26.3.
- Only the model and animation part:
AdvancedEntityModel,AdvancedModelBox,BasicModelPart,ModelAnimator,Animation,AnimationHandler,IAnimatedEntity. No books, no config screens, no other Citadel features. - Own mod id and package (
rampart,dev.vladeezyy.rampart): Rampart and Citadel can be installed together without conflicts. - Lighter on servers: the animation packet goes only to the players who see the entity (Citadel sends it to every player on the server, in every dimension).
- Lighter on clients: model boxes render without allocating memory for every vertex; keyframe animations follow the partial tick, so they no longer jitter.
📦 Versions
- 26.3: NeoForge 26.3.0.94+ or Fabric Loader 0.19.5+, Java 25
- 26.2: NeoForge 26.2.0.93+ or Fabric Loader 0.19.5+, Java 25
- 26.1.2: NeoForge 26.1.2+ or Fabric Loader 0.19.5+, Java 25
- 1.21.1: NeoForge 21.1.197+ or Fabric Loader 0.16.14+, Java 21
⚙️ Installation
- Put the jar for your Minecraft version and loader into
mods, on the server and on every client. - On Fabric also Fabric API.
🧪 Tested
- Every version, both loaders: server self-test (animation lifecycle, packet codec) and a client check that renders the models and compares every vertex with Citadel's math.
- Used by our Rats port: all 28 mobs render and animate on every version.
