About this project
What does Distant Horizons Memory Fix add?
Installation side
Client, server, or both. Install it wherever the supported Distant Horizons build runs. Each side applies its own worker thread fix; the other side doesn't need this addon.
Description
Distant Horizons can leave progress reporting worker threads behind after their requests finish. Over a long session, those idle workers hold onto resources and memory.
This small fix shuts down those leftover workers after their work ends. Your LOD quality, render distance, generation and saves keep their usual behavior.
It targets one specific leak in DH 3.3.3. Unsupported implementations are skipped, and it doesn't promise to fix every DH memory problem.
- Release abandoned progress worker threads after their request ends.
- Preserve active work without interrupting it or waiting on the server thread.
- Keep existing LOD quality, render distance and generation settings.
- Run independently of Tensura and other custom mods.
- Import the previous feature preference when moving from Tensura Optimizations.
This release targets the specific progress executor leak in Distant Horizons 3.3.3. It checks the supported version and implementation before applying. Unsupported or changed implementations are skipped with a log message. This is a targeted lifecycle fix; it does not claim to resolve every DH memory issue or provide a universal FPS/TPS improvement.
Dependencies
- Targets the audited Distant Horizons 3.3.3 build. DH is optional to the loader, but the fix has nothing to do without it.
- Install on the client, server, or both, wherever that DH build runs.
Configuration
The fix defaults on in config/distant_horizons_memory_fix-common.toml: [general] enabled = true
Use -Ddistant_horizons_memory_fix.enabled=false to compare with upstream behavior. When no new config exists, the previous [features] distantProgressLifecycle value is imported from config/tensura_optimizations-common.toml. The legacy -Dtensura_optimizations.distantProgressLifecycle override remains a fallback; the new property takes precedence.
