About this project
What does Aetherial Realms add?
Aetherial Realms
Leave the ground behind. Aetherial Realms replaces the normal world with an endless sky of floating islands, drifting above a sea of clouds. Every island is generated from the seed, so each world is new to explore, and you can shape it however you like before you start.
Islands worth exploring
- Five island shapes: classic domes, bowls with raised rims, crescents with curling horns, stepped terraces, and rings with a hole through the middle.
- Rugged undersides: rocky bottoms that hang in jagged points, with dripstone, glow berries, vines and amethyst.
- Broken landscapes: big islands split into pieces with chasms between them, groups of tall stone pillars topped with trees, and rivers that pour off the edges as waterfalls.
- Clusters, not lone rocks: every main island comes with smaller satellite islands and broken-off fragments around it.
- A random starting island: you spawn on a randomly shaped island, not the same island every time.
Lakes and life
Bowl islands can hold large lakes behind a raised rim. The lakes have varied depths, sandy beaches, gravel and clay beds, sugar cane, lily pads and seagrass. Cod and salmon swim in them, frogs gather on the shores, and turtles nest in desert and beach biomes.
Resources where you need them
Every ore, from vanilla and from other mods, can be found inside the islands at any height. That includes diamonds, redstone and modded ores. In the Nether, quartz, gold and ancient debris are spread through the floating Nether islands the same way. You can turn ore amounts up or down to suit your playstyle.
Structures that make sense
Villages, temples, strongholds, trial chambers and Nether fortresses get solid island ground under them. Structures from other mods are left out if they would hang over the void. Mods built for the sky, like Sky Villages, are welcome.
Make it yours
Open Customize when you create a world to change almost everything:
- Island size, spacing, density and height range
- How often each shape appears, plus its size and stretch
- Lakes, ores, pillars, chasms, jagged undersides and decorations
- World height for layered, stacked islands
- An optional ocean far below, filled with water or lava
- Structure options, including village size
Save your favourite setups as presets, then share them with friends as a file or by copy and paste.
