About this project

What does MobMentum add?

image

Mobs and players that move like they're alive.

Mobmentum animates every creature in the game procedurally. There are no keyframe packs and no resource pack. It uses only the vanilla models and textures, with no new bones. On top of that come smarter mobs, stealth and melee combat built around readable attacks.

Mobs living their lives!

image

🧟 Mobs that feel alive

  • Idle life. Every mob breathes, shifts its weight, looks around and fidgets in its own way. Villagers chat and gesture, and golems study their own hands.
  • Faces. Eyes blink and follow you. Mobs show surprise, fear, pain, dizziness and joy.
  • Everything blends. Walking, turning, idling, attacking and getting hit flow into each other. The body lags behind the limbs, and nothing pops.

⚔️ Combat you can read

  • Weapon-specific strike chains. Blows flow into each other. Heavy weapons hang at the top of the swing, and every hit lands with a jolt.
  • Hitboxes, dual wielding and two-handed grips.

image

  • Every mob attack starts with a clear wind-up. Block it, parry it or dodge it. A blow that lands on a raised shield staggers the attacker.

image

🥷 Stealth

  • Mobs see in a view cone and hear your footsteps. Darkness, sneaking and tall grass keep you hidden. Heavy armor clanks.
  • A mob that hears something comes to look, then searches the area.
  • Strike an unaware mob from behind for a backstab with heavy bonus damage.

image

🧠 Smarter AI

  • Zombies leap at you and grab you.
  • Skeletons keep their distance.
  • Illagers drink potions and slide-tackle.
  • Endermen fly into a rage.
  • Iron golems slam the ground.
  • The warden charges.

Each kind of mob can be switched on or off.

💀 Deaths

Mobs fall as ragdolls that react to the blow that killed them. Some get a death of their own: slimes splash into droplets, ghasts dissolve into a cloud, and blazes burn out piece by piece.

🏃 Movement (optional)

Momentum, dash, slide, double jump, wall jump and mantling. A dash into a strike turns it into a lunge.

🧍 The player

Walking, running, sneaking, jumping, landing, climbing, swimming, eating, throwing and digging are all animated, with living eyes and emotions. In first person, your hands show strikes, steps and landings.
