About this project
What does Avatar: Bending Arts add?

Avatar: Bending Arts brings the bending of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra to Minecraft 1.21.1 (Fabric). Most players are born with one element, fight from their nation's stance, and grow their bending on an upgrade tree drawn as their nation's scroll. The rest are born with no bending and walk a warrior's path instead.
Features
- Four elements, 72 techniques. Airbending (15), Waterbending (21), Earthbending (18) and Firebending (18), each technique with up to four tiers, all taken from the shows.
- Eight sub-bendings. Metal, Sand and Lava for earth, Lightning for fire, Blood and Healing for water, Flight and Spiritual Projection for air. Each is awakened by a rare scroll found in the world once you master its element.
- Three paths without bending. About one player in five is born with no bending and chooses Kyoshi Warrior, Master Swordsman or Chi Blocker, each with its own stance, strikes and eight moves.
- Chi and combat mode. Press R to take your stance: the hotbar becomes your bending bar, and chi fuels every move. Chi grows the more you bend, and it strengthens your body.
- Martial arts. Each nation's fighting style (Baguazhang, Hung Gar, Northern Shaolin, Tai Chi) for hand-to-hand strikes in the stance.
- The Avatar. Raava chooses a host, who learns the elements in the cycle's order, enters the Avatar State and gains forms no other bender has. With all four elements comes energybending: open the spirit portals, take or give bending, and rise as a Giant Spirit. When the Avatar dies, the cycle moves on.
- The Dark Avatar. Vaatu's host wields the same arts in red, and Vaatu is reborn round the nations in reverse.
- Raava and Vaatu. Two giant spirits that come once per world as sky bosses, shrink as they are hurt, and choose a host at the edge of death. They talk in chat, and Raava may choose a trusted, lucky mortal by what they say.
- The air bison. Rare herds in the mountains. Sneak past the parents, tame a calf with apples, and ride it with up to four friends, walking around on its back as it flies.
- Nation villages. New villages are built by their nation from end to end around its centrepiece (an Earth Kingdom pagoda, a Fire Sage temple, a Water Tribe igloo hall or an air temple), using the land under each building.
- The Spirit World. A dimension with the Tree of Time, the Fog of Lost Souls, Wan Shi Tong's Library, Koh's realm, the swamp Aang visited and Hai-Riyo Peak, home to peaceful small spirits. Two spirit portals lead there, and only the Avatar can open them.
- Koh the Face Stealer. A boss under his tree who talks with you, answers what you say in chat and steals your face if you show him any feeling.
- 16-bit pixel art for every effect, icon and screen, styled after each nation.
With MCA Reborn (optional)
With MCA Reborn installed, its villages belong to the four nations: some villagers bend, they recognise you by your bending, and nations that fall out go to war and raid each other.
Getting started
- R enters or leaves the bending stance.
- 1–9 use the technique in that slot (hold for charged moves).
- B opens the Bending Scroll, where you spend Insight on new techniques and tiers. If you were born with no bending, it's where you choose your path.
- Left and right click in the stance throw light and heavy martial strikes.
- Sneak and stand still outside the stance to meditate and refill chi faster.
Requirements
- Minecraft 1.21.1 with Fabric Loader 0.16 or newer
- Fabric API
- Optional: MCA Reborn

config/avatarmod.json, and operators get/bendingcommands for testing. - To have everyone born a bender, set
nonBenderWeightto 0 in the config. - Bending between players needs PvP turned on.
- Fan-made, and not affiliated with Nickelodeon, Paramount or Avatar Studios.
