About this project

What does Create Rancher add?

Welcome to Create Rancher!

Create Rancher is a mod all about enhancing your experience farming livestock in a Create friendly way. Create Rancher brings new machines to the table that unlock the ability to manage mobs in ways that were previously impossible or inconvienent without the use of other mods. It also aims to add new reasons to farm both animals and plants to expand upon the fantasy of living on a homestead.

Find all the features below.

Machines

Mechanical Herder

The Mechancial Herder is a large mechanical arm with a suction cup mounted on its end. Unlike create's mechancial arm, this machine picks up and moves mobs around instead of items. The Herder features a GUI where the player can filter for a specific type of mob, whether to target adult or baby mobs, and the size of the area it searches.

Mechanical Feeder

The Mechanical Feeder is a variation of the mechanical arm. The Feeder grabs food items that mobs will breed with and if 2 ready-to-breed mobs are within its range, it will use the food it is holding to breed them together.

Mechanical Shearer

The Mechanical Shearer is the last arm-like block Create Rancher adds. It will search for mobs within its reach that can be sheared and when it finds one, it will reach out to shear them.

Mechanical Fisher

The Mechanical Fisher provides a solution to automatic fishing with the Create mod. The Fisher does not use fishing rods, instead it requires the new fishing net item to function (more on the net later on). One thing worth sharing about the fishing net here is that by default the mechanical fisher can not catch fishing treasure loot; to do so the fishing net will need to be enchanted with the new Treasure Hunter enchantment.

Auger

The Auger provides a new way to move items upwards vertically, or horizontally, ... or diagonally (just like a chute). The center of the auger has a screw spinning in it and windows in the side of the block to watch. Items will visibly move along inside of the block. The auger can be provided rotation from either the top or bottom of the block and items can be inserted or extracted at any point along the side of the auger shaft.

Item Grate

The Item Grate delivers two new features depending on how it is used. The first feature is as a covering for belts which allows items to pass through it onto the belt while preventing players and mobs from being moved. The second feature is by augmenting campfires, soul campfires, lava cauldrons, and water cauldrons to become grills on which to perform smoking, haunting, smelting, and washing respectively. This provides a lower tech solution to these crafting processes that does not require a fan, all be it with a processing limit of 9 items at a time.

Livestock Drain

The Livestock Drain provides a better method to getting milk and mooshroom stew from cows and mushroom cows. The livestock drain will connect with adjacent livestock drains to create up to a 16x16 platform which will share capacity and fluid contents. When a mob stands on the livestock drain and the mob has an interaction with a bowl or a bucket the livestock drain will extract that fluid into its buffer at a rate of 40mb per second per mob.

Smart Depot

The Smart Depot functions like a brass funnel and a depot merged into one block. In extract mode it will pull from the inventory below the smart depot and put items from there on top of itself, in insert mode it will put items from its top into the inventory below. Like a brass funnel, items can be filtered and stack sizes configured. If the smart depot is in insert mode and a machine is crafting with one of the items on the top of the smart depot, it will hold the item there until it has finished being processed and store the result in the container below.

Liquid Blaze Burner

The Liquid Blaze Burner functions just like a regular blaze burner but instead of burning items for fuel, it can burn liquids. Create Rancher only adds Lava and Biofuel (more on this later) as fuels for the liquid blaze burner, but it has compatability with liquids from other popular mods and create addons.

Other Features

Alfalfa

Alfalfa is a new crop added by Create Rancher, it can naturally be found in the world near the banks of rivers as wild alfalfa and its seeds have a chance to be obtained when breaking this. Alfalfa has a few uses once grown but the primary use is to manufacture alfalfa pellets which can be fed to any livestock animal to make them produce dung after 3 minutes.

Dung, Manure, and Biofuel

Dung, which is obtained from feeding livestock alfala pellets, can be crafted into manure which has a few uses. Manure itself can be used as an alternative to bonemeal, it can also be crafted into a block of manure which can be tilled with a hoe into manure farmland. Manure farmland won't grow your crops any faster than regular farmland but it does not need water for things to grow and crops can not be trampled on it. Manure can also be processed into Biofuel which is a new liquid that can be fed to liquid blaze burners to superheat them.

Tannin and Stained Wood

Tannin can be extracted from sweet berries and glow berries in the form of a liquid. It can be used to cure rotten flesh into leather, make black dye, and make tannic powder. Tannic Powder can be applied to any log or stripped log to turn it into the new stained wood set, this set features all the blocks you would expect a wood set to have.

Crate

The crate is a new container that can be crafted from stained wood which functions like a 15 slot shulker box. The crate is intended for the mid-game and due to the crafting materials requiring a heated blaze burner, the prerequisite to craft the crate is going to the nether.

Fishing Net

The fishing net is an alterative to the fishing rod. The net has slightly less durability however, it has the added benefit of being able to catch 1-4 items at once. The fishing net can be enchanted will all the same enchantments as the fishing rod but has the additional enchantment "Treasure Hunter" which allows it to catch loot such as enchanted books from the treasure loot table when fishing in open water. Without this enchantment the fishing net is unable to catch treasure loot.

Joists

The Joist is a new decoration block for every wood set that shares the same model and placement rules as the metal girder from create. New joists will be generated for modded wood sets when the game is started given they feature stripped wood and plank textures that are tagged correctly.

Stews

Like the rabbit stew, new varients of stew have been added for pork, beef, chicken, and mutton. The recipe has been simplified to remove the need for a mushroom on all of these stews (rabbit stew included). The hunger and saturation on these stews are 14 and 18 respectively (7 hunger bars, 9 saturation bars), rabbit stew has been buffed to this as well.

Cans

Any food vanilla food item that went into a bowl can now also go into a can. The new stews and milk can be put into a can as well. Unlike bowls, cans stack to 64 and will not give an empty can back to the player after consumption to eliminate inventory clutter. To account for not getting the can back, the can recipe is quite cheap.

Chocolate Milk

Chocolate milk can be crafted with milk and a bar of chocolate. Unlike milk, when chocolate milk is drunk by the player it will only remove negative potion effects rather than all effects.

Satchel

The satchel is an early game storage device functioning like a backpack with 9 inventory slots.

Potions

Several existing potion effects have had new potions added to them which are brewable by the player.

Haste: Brewed with tannic powder and an awkward potion.

Mining Fatigue: Brewed with a fermented spider eye and a haste potion.

Nausea: Brewed with dung and an awkward potion.

Blindness: Brewed with a fermented spider eye and a nausea potion.

Hunger: Brewed with rotten flesh and an awkward potion.

Glowing: Brewed with a glow berry and an awkward potion.

Darkness: Brewed with a fermented spider eye and a glowing potion.
