About this project

What does Covalence add?

Covalence Banner

Equivalent exchange for Minecraft 26.3

Turn items into EMC, learn them, and turn that EMC into anything you know. On top of the classic gameplay, Covalence adds teams with shared vaults, remote access, new ways to generate EMC and machines that keep producing while you explore.

Covalence is a fork of ProjectE and is not an official ProjectE release. Please report problems here and not to the ProjectE team.

What's new in Covalence

  • Teams and bank: shared knowledge, team accounts, a transaction log and daily limits per role
  • Remote access: open chests and machines from afar, send EMC wirelessly
  • New EMC sources: drain mobs, tap lava, catch lightning, harvest farms
  • Automation: replicate, recycle and autocraft with EMC
  • Late game: sixteen matter tiers, Power Flowers, Magnum and Colossal Stars, the Final Star
  • A new look: all textures and interfaces are new, with a transmutation grid that scrolls

Everything in detail

Getting started

  1. Craft a Philosopher's Stone. It transmutes blocks in the world and opens a crafting grid on a key press.
  2. Use it to make a Transmutation Table or Tablet.
  3. Put an item into the learn slot. You gain its EMC value and learn the item.
  4. Take any learned item out of the grid. It costs its EMC value.
  5. Build Energy Collectors to earn EMC, and use Dark and Red Matter for better gear.

Teams and bank

  • Teams: /covalence team create | invite | accept | leave | kick | promote | share | info. Roles are owner, officer and member.
  • Shared knowledge: When sharing is on, anything one member learns, all members learn. Offline members get it at their next login.
  • EMC Vault: Opens your personal and team account, with deposits, withdrawals and the last 50 transactions. Your balance is not stored in the block, so breaking a vault loses nothing.
  • Daily limit: Members can withdraw up to a daily limit. Officers and owners have no limit.
  • Vault Card: Moves a set amount of EMC from anywhere, for a fee. Sneak and use to choose the account and direction.

Remote access

  • Remote Terminal: Sneak and use on an alchemical chest, collector, relay or vault to bind it, then use to open it from afar. Each opening costs EMC, and the target must be loaded.

    • Basic: nearby, up to 32 blocks
    • Advanced: the same dimension
    • Quantum: all dimensions
  • Wireless EMC Node: Sends EMC to a linked node, with loss over distance. Comes in three tiers.

  • Node Linker: Sneak and use on the sending node, then use on the receiving node.

EMC generators

  • Soul Harvester: Drains nearby mobs for EMC. Monsters give more than animals. Spares players, tamed animals and bosses, and its victims drop nothing.
  • Geothermal Tap: Needs lava sources in the 3 x 3 directly below it and slowly uses them up. Gives more in the Nether.
  • Storm Collector: Needs rain under an open sky and gives far more in a thunderstorm. A lightning rod directly above catches strikes for a big burst.
  • Crop Reactor: Takes ripe crops from a farm nearby and replants them. Pays less than selling the harvest yourself, but needs no hands.
  • Void Tap: A tiny, steady trickle. Needs nothing but air straight down to the void, and a low spot. Bedrock blocks the view, so think of the End.

All rates can be changed in the config.

Automation

  • Matter Replicator: Makes a learned item out of EMC, at exactly its value, and passes it to inventories next to it.
  • EMC Recycler: Burns items for 95% of their value, with whitelist or blacklist filters. Keeps out items with contents, such as filled shulker boxes.
  • Assembler: Crafts its pattern from nearby inventories and can buy missing ingredients you have learned with EMC.
  • EMC Capacitor: Stores EMC in three tiers and keeps it when broken.
  • Upgrades: Speed halves the cycle of a machine, Range adds one block of reach, Efficiency adds one percent on a recycler. Up to four of each.

Late game (Covalence EX)

  • Sixteen tiers: Collectors, Compressed Collectors and Relays from Basic to Final, plus matter for the tiers in between.
  • Power Flower: One block that pays EMC directly to whoever placed it.
  • Magnum and Colossal Stars: Huge EMC storage in six tiers each.
  • The Final Star: Provides EMC without ever running out. The very last goal.
  • Energy EMC Link: Adds EMC from collectors to your transmutation EMC.
  • Personal EMC Link: Also imports and exports items.
  • Refined EMC Link: 1 input and 9 outputs, made for storage networks. Learns what it takes in.
  • Compressed Refined EMC Link: The same with 54 outputs.
  • Stone Transmutation Table, Arcane Transmutation Tablet: Transmute with a table that needs no tablet, or a tablet with a crafting grid.
  • Alchemy Table: Turns items into related ones using EMC from machines next to it.
  • Knowledge Sharing Book: Sneak and use to store your knowledge. Others can learn it from the book.
  • Compact Sun, Matter Upgrader, Infinite Fuel, Infinite Steak: A machine booster that burns those who step on it, tier upgrades, fuel that never burns up and food that never runs out, both paid with EMC.

Core machines

  • Energy Collector (MK1 to MK3): Generates EMC from sunlight, charges items and upgrades fuels.
  • Anti-Matter Relay (MK1 to MK3): Passes EMC on from collectors, adds a bonus and charges items.
  • Energy Condenser (MK1, MK2): Burns items in its inventory and produces copies of the target item. MK2 burns one side and outputs to the other.
  • Dark and Red Matter Furnace: Very fast furnaces that also pull and push items.
  • Dark Matter Pedestal: Activates an item placed on it for an area effect. Item tooltips list what each one does.
  • Alchemical Chest: Large chest that also runs items stored inside it.
  • Interdiction Torch: Pushes away mobs and projectiles.
  • Nova Catalyst, Nova Cataclysm: Powerful explosives.

Rings, amulets and trinkets

  • Black Hole Band: Pulls in nearby item drops.
  • Void Ring: Pulls in items and teleports you where you look.
  • Swiftwolf's Rending Gale: Lets you fly and calls down lightning.
  • Archangel's Smite: Fires homing arrows.
  • Ignition Ring, Zero Ring: Fire and ice, as a projectile or an aura.
  • Harvest Goddess Band: Grows and fertilizes crops.
  • Ring of Arcana: Combines ignition, zero, harvest and gale in one ring.
  • Body Stone, Soul Stone, Life Stone: Restore hunger, health, or both, at the cost of EMC.
  • Mind Stone: Stores experience.
  • Watch of Flowing Time: Moves the time of day forward or back. On a pedestal it speeds up nearby blocks and slows mobs.
  • Evertide Amulet: An infinite water bucket and water projectile, completely free.
  • Volcanite Amulet: The same for lava, at 32 EMC per use.
  • Gem of Eternal Density: Condenses items on the go, with a whitelist or blacklist.
  • Mercurial Eye: Places and replaces blocks at a distance using a Klein Star.
  • Repair Talisman: Slowly repairs your gear.
  • Divining Rod: Reports the EMC of the blocks beyond the one you click, in three strengths.
  • Destruction Catalyst, Hyperkinetic Lens, Catalytic Lens: Clear large areas or fire explosive charges.
  • Alchemical Bag: A large personal inventory you can open anywhere, in sixteen colors with their own contents.
  • Klein Stars: Portable EMC storage from Ein to Omega.
  • Tome of Knowledge: Unlocks all transmutation knowledge when learned.

Tools and armor

  • Dark and Red Matter tools: Pickaxe, axe, shovel, hoe, sword, shears and hammer, with charge levels and area effects. They never break.
  • Red Katar, Red Morningstar: Do the work of several tools in one.
  • Dark and Red Matter armor: Strong protection that never breaks.
  • Gem Armor: The top tier with step assist, high jumps, no fall damage, night vision, healing and offensive abilities such as a lightning strike and an explosion.

For modpack authors

Use Covalence in any modpack, no permission needed.

Covalence uses the mod ID projecte and keeps item IDs, tags, data pack paths, config keys, commands and the API package of ProjectE. EMC values match ProjectE 1.21.1 except where vanilla recipes changed. It cannot be installed together with ProjectE.

The late game module uses the projectex namespace and maps Project Expansion IDs to it where a clear match exists. Condenser MK3 and the Advanced Alchemical Chest have no replacement yet. All new machines can be tuned in the config.

Integrations

JEI, Jade, The One Probe and Curios. CraftTweaker, EMI and WTHIT support will follow once they are available for 26.3.
