About this project

What does Welcome Messages add?

Runs on: Minecraft 1.20.1 (Forge, Fabric), 1.21.1 (NeoForge, Fabric) and 26.3 (Fabric). Server-side only, so vanilla players can join.

A proper first impression. New players get a broadcast welcome with their player number ("Welcome Alex! You are player #42 to join."), and everyone gets your message of the day a couple of seconds after joining. Vanilla's own join and leave lines are left alone.

  • Players who joined before you installed the mod are recognised from the world's player data, so they are not greeted as new
  • MOTD lines in config/welcomemessages/motd.txt, one per line, with {name}, {online} and {count}
  • firstJoinMessage, motdEnabled, motdDelaySeconds, firstJoinColor, motdColor in welcome.properties

Compatibility: Minecraft 26.3 with Fabric Loader 0.20.1 and Fabric API. Java 25. Server-side: runs on dedicated servers and on the integrated server in singleplayer; other players install nothing. Licence: MIT.
