About this project
What does Scorch! add?
Scorch
Scorch is a mod which adds new content to the nether and rebalances nether gameplay, particularly netherite mining.
World Generation
- Gravel replaced by ironsand
- Build height increased
- Nether is slightly deeper
- Annoying lava deposits no longer exist underground
Pyrack
- New ore that drops gunpowder
- Can be ignited for chain reaction explosions
- Great for searching for debris underground

Ignistone
- Found deep underground near large deposits of ancient debris
- Turns into lava if mined without silk touch

Crying Obsidian
- Creates ignistone when placed above a lava source
- Creates netherrack when placed above flowing lava

Ironsand & Ironstone
- New nether blockset
- Mining ironsand will give ironsand clumps or flint
- Ironsand clumps can be smelted into iron nuggets
- Ironsand clumps can be crafted back into ironsand
- Ironsand can be crafted into ironstone
- Ironsand be used to smelt glass
- Ironsand be used to craft TNT
- Ironstone comes with slab, stair, chiseled, and wall variants
- Ironstone can also be crafted into burial urns, but the burial urns will not contain anything

Crypts
- New structure made of Ironstone that spawns deep underground
- Inhabited by wither skeletons
- Lots of loot inside, especially if you break the Burial Urns or dig up graves
- You can find Totems of Returning here
- Being caught disturbing the crypt by Possessed Ironstone will cause the player to build up a curse
- Curse build up will awaken more of the crypt and reduce your maximum HP
- Curse build up persists beyond death, but it will go away after some time or when a golden apple is eaten
- You can craft Possessed Ironstone using ghast tears

_Thank you to SnakeBlock for the broken heart texture_

Totem of Returning
- Totems of Returning are a one-time use item which will safely teleport you to your spawn point when used
- Can be found in Burial Urns in Crypts

Striders
- Striders can be sheared for string
- Are tempted by warped fungus from much further away
- Strider hair can be styled with magma cream
- Striders will grow their hair back over time but this process can be accelerated using warped roots
- Striders will not grow their hair back if they are cold

Misc Changes
- Wither Skull and Nether Star item entities are immune to fire and lava
- Wither Skeletons have a 100% chance to drop a Wither Skull if killed by a ghast fireball
- Piglins give ironsand instead of gravel
- Water Bottles are craftable by adding a glass bottle and a ghast tear in the crafting menu
- Nether fog is nerfed so you can now see further
