🗡️ Improved Mobs
Think the game is too easy? Want some more challenges in your world? Then look no further.
Improved mobs increases the difficulty of your game drastically by adding increase stats and new abilities to mobs making them way more of a thread even if you have high tier equipment.
This mod is largely server sided starting from 1.7.0+. The only advantage of having this mod on the client is the difficulty meter that would otherwise not be visible. All other features run completely server side.
📖 Features
Difficulty system:
Introduces a difficulty system allowing several features to scale based on the difficulty value. By default the difficulty increases over time.
Attribute increase:
All hostile mobs increase in damage, health, speed and knockback resistance with increasing difficulty.
Equipments:
All hostile mobs can now spawn with armor and weapons, not just zombies and skeletons. Additionally armors and weapons from other mods are included too. The equipments can also be enchanted. Do note that most mobs don't render the armor but the effect will still be present.
Block breaking:
Mobs can now break specific blocks, when the blocks are in their way. Breakable mobs will be treated as air so mobs will actively be able to pathfind to their target ignoring these blocks.
Ladders:
While in vanilla mobs can already climb ladders this only happens if the mob is pushed against it. Now mobs can actively climb them in trying to reach their target
Stealing:
If the mob does not have an active target it will search for nearby inventories to loot the items so protect your chest now! However they will not loot inventories which have not been opened by a player (So dungeon loots etc. are safe)
Water mounts:
If mobs are in water and targeting something they are able to summon a guardian to ride it. This guardian by itself doesn't attack, has low health and despawns if the mob dismounts it.
Flying mounts:
Mobs are able to summon a flying mount (parrot/phantom in some versions) to ride if they deem the target being unreachable by normal means.
Villager targeting:
Villagers are now targeted not only by zombies. RIP villagers
Neutral Aggressive mobs:
Neutral mobs such as endermen can now spawn being aggressive, meaning they attack the player without provocations.
Advanced item use:
Mobs can now use a variety of items like the player. Some examples include:
- Enderpearls
- Flint and steel
- TNT
- Snowballs
- Lava bucket
- Bows
- Splash Potion
- Enchanted Book: Holding any kind of enchanted books grants the mob the ability to buff nearby mobs, summon evoker fangs and shulker bullets.

Pet protection:
As for something to help against the buffs your pets are now unharmed by your attacks except if you sneak. Finally no more accidentally killing your dogs when fighting monsters. You can also give your pets armor by sneaking and right-clicking them.
⚙️ Configuration
Think all those features is too much to handle? Don't worry. The mod is highly configurable.
All features can be turned on/off in the config. The difficulty speed and attributes are also changeable in the config.
If you are on 1.14.0+ changing attributes requires a datapack overriding the config file under data/improvedmobs/config/attributes.json.
