📖 About:

Universal Bone Meal fills all the missing gaps where bone meal cannot be used, but really should be!

📚 Contents:

There are quite a lot of plants you now can use bone meal on. The growing behaviors all are rather unique, depending on the plant you are growing.

  • Cactus can be grown 12 to 16 blocks tall, very similar to bamboo
  • Sugar canes can be grown 12 to 16 blocks tall, very similar to bamboo
  • Lily Pads will spread around on nearby water in groups of 3
  • Small Flowers will spread around the original flower
  • Dead Bushes will spread around in groups of 2
  • Nether Wart can be grown just like wheat
  • Vines quickly grow downwards, very similar to weeping vines
  • Small Mushrooms can be grown by bone mealing mycelium, similar to growing nether vegetation on nylium
  • Pumpkins and Melons can be forced to appear from a fully grown stem, although this usally takes a few tries
  • Chorus Plants can be forced to grow upwards by one step by using bone meal anywhere on the plant
  • Coral Blocks can be farmed by growing coral plants into coral reef structures, but this only works inside of a warm ocean biome, and corals are also very picky where to grow, so make sure no sea pickles and sea grass are anywhere above the coral plant
  • Grass Blocks or Mycelium will be forced to spread when using bone meal on a dirt/coarsed dirt/dirt path block, when a grass block/mycelium is directly next to it, just like spreading nylium onto netherrack
  • Sweet Berry Bushes and Fern can be grown on podzol, similar to grass and flowers from grass blocks

All new behaviors also work with dispensers and can be individuall disabled in the config.

📷 Media:

Give nature a helping hand with just a bit of bone meal Growing sugar canes up from 12 to 16 blocks tall
Growing cactus up from 12 to 16 blocks tall Vines quickly spread downwards when bonemealed
Lily pads replicate themselves around on any water they find Grow small flower to farm all the dyes
Getting a lot of dead bushes is no longer a problem Populate mycelium with a bunch of mushrooms
Grow nether wart quickly, no need to wait around Growing chorus plants can be quite exciting

💡 FAQ:

Q: How do I configure this mod?
A: Editing configs directly in-game has not yet been implemented. Instead when in a world run the /config showfile <modid> command by choosing either CLIENT or SERVER (depending on the mod), then click the file name (ending with .toml) that appears in chat to be able to manually edit the config file in a separate editor. After saving the file, the config will automatically reload in-game after a couple of seconds, so no game restart required.

Q: What is optional on the client side supposed to mean?
A: Since only the server handles plants being grown, the main logic of Universal Bone Meal only runs on the server anyways. The client is only reponsible for playing the use item animation (swinging the player's hand). So if absent client side, growing plants will work, but there won't be the correct use animation.
