About this project

What does Equivalent Exchange add?

What is Equivalent Exchange?

Equivalent Exchange (EE) is a mod centred around the fascinating concept of transmutation—the idea that any matter can be transformed into another kind of matter through mysterious forces.

The core tenet of alchemy, for centuries transmutation has captured the imagination of mystics and scientists alike. And now YOU can transmute your very own objects thanks to this exciting mod!

Every in-game item is assigned an EMC (Energy-Matter Covalence) value, representing its energy content. This energy, or EMC, can then be exchanged via a Transmutation Tablet to create new matter (read: items).

Think of it as recycling on a cosmic scale—no need to sort your bins! Or, how about we get more exciting and think of it as TURNING LEAD INTO GOLD! The end goal of many an alchemist.

So in this case, you could turn cobblestone into diamonds. That’s basically free money, and who doesn’t love free money?

Alchemists loved the idea of free money, which is why they were so obsessed with turning lead into gold. And making homunculi, but you can’t do that with the Transmutation Tablet… yet.

So why not follow in the footsteps of alchemists like Nicholas Flamel and Edward Kelley and start turning things into other things. We bet that if they played Minecraft, they’d use this mod!

Why does this project exist?

Equivalent Exchange is a meticulous recreation inspired by and paying homage to EE1 and EE2.

Technically, this is Equivalent Exchange 4, but since the mod has passed into new hands and been completely rewritten from the ground up, featuring both new and classic elements - transmuted to some degree, you could say - we decided to start fresh with version 1 (or 0).

Like the transformative and groundbreaking original Equivalent Exchange mods, this version takes cues from things like Full Metal Alchemist, "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho, and now also the act of making something out of Blu Tak, squishing it and then making something else out of the same piece.
