About this project
What does Big Fish add?
This mod currently adds 9 new fish to the vanilla fishing loot table. All of these fish can be cooked or traded with the fisherman villager. Some fish give or have special effects when eaten. All of the fish are fished from different biomes, mainly ocean biomes but some can also be fished in special cave biomes like Lush Caves. If a player has a higher luck stat they will be more likely to catch better fish from this mod capping at 13 luck at which you will only fish up the best fish from that biome although vanilla fish will still sometimes be caught. If you don't like the biome specific aspect or the luck dependency, the loottable for this mod can be changed with datapacks. I have made an example datapack which makes all the fish available in all biomes called: Homeless Fish.
Dark Crab - Fished in Lush Cave. After cooked it restores 10 hunger and 10 saturation
Mantaray - Fished in Warm Oceans. After cooked it restores 10 hunger and 10 saturation
Shark - Fished in All Oceans. After cooked it restores 9 hunger and 9 saturation
Anglerfish - Fished in Deep Ocean and Deep Frozen Ocean. After cooked it restores 8 hunger and 8 saturation. Also gives health boost for 90 seconds
Monkfish - Fished in Ocean and Lukewarm Ocean. After cooked it restores 8 hunger and 9 saturation
Swordfish - Fished in Ocean, Deep Ocean, Lukewarm Ocean, Deep Lukewarm Ocean and Warm Ocean. After cooked it restores 7 hunger and 8 saturation
Lobster - Fished in Beach, Snowy Beach, Stony Shore, Ocean, Lukewarm Ocean, Warm Ocean, Cold Ocean and Frozen Ocean. After cooked it restores 7 hunger and 7 saturation
Slimy Eel - Fished in Swamp and Dripstone Cave. After cooked it restores a random amount of hunger and saturation between 1 and 10
Shrimps - Fished everywhere except Oceans. After cooked it restores 2 hunger and 2 saturation. Can be eaten fast
In the 1.16.5 version Dark Crabs are fished from Frozen Oceans.
