About this project

What does EpicChat add?

EpicChat

A chat formatting mod focused on giving NeoForge server owners control over their chat aesthetics. LuckPerms support is built in and I highly recommend using it.

Note:

I will no longer be supporting Fabric. I do not recommend using the older Fabric versions. The versions marked Alpha will contain bugs and I will not help with them.

Current Features:

  • Use legacy (&) color/formatting codes and hex (&#) color codes in chat
  • Change the default chat format to whatever you want
  • Add and remove nicknames with /nick and /delnick. This supports color codes
  • Prefixes and suffixes are supported via LuckPerms
  • Permission nodes are supported via LuckPerms
    Screenshot of ingame chat

Command Usage & Permission Nodes:

/nick | Changes your nickname.

  • epicchat.nick

/delnick | Deletes your nickname.

  • epicchat.delnick

/nick | Sets another players nickname.

  • epicchat.nick.other

/delnick | Deletes a user nickname.

  • epicchat.delnick.other

Allows hex (&#abc123) and legacy (&a-f, &0-9) colors.

  • epicchat.color.hex
  • epicchat.color.legacy

Allows chat styles
Bold: &l

  • epicchat.style.bold

Italic: &o

  • epicchat.style.italic

Obfuscated: &k

  • epicchat.style.obfuscated

Strikethrough: &m

  • epicchat.style.strikethrough

Underline: &n

  • epicchat.style.underline

Issues:

  • Disabling options in the config file will also disable them in the chat formatting. You probably want to use LuckPerms to deny the usage via permissions instead.
