About this project

What does AliveCombat add?

AliveCombat is committed to making Minecraft’s combat feel more alive by refining vanilla combat mechanics. It enhances responsiveness and targeting logic, with a focus on fluid melee interactions and more intuitive aiming behavior. All features are client-side only and fully configurable in-game, allowing for a lightweight and flexible experience.

Combat Enhancements

  • Auto Attack System
    Supports two modes:
    • Click Mode: triggers a short burst of automatic attacks
    • Press Mode: continuously attacks while holding the attack key
  • Continuous Attack (No Miss Penalty)
Missed attacks no longer reset attack strength, allowing smoother combat flow.
  • Attack While Using Items
Enables attacking while using items (excluding shields), improving combat flexibility.

Advanced Targeting System

  • Pass-Through Targeting
    Allows aiming through:
    • Collisionless blocks (e.g. grass, vines)
    • Entities in death animation
    • Allied entities (e.g. pet wolfs, pet cats)
  • Conditional Pass-Through Behavior
Pass-through targeting can be enabled under configurable conditions:
    • When holding a tool (For example, when tall grass obstructs the player's view while holding a sword, the targeting system will automatically ignore the grass and target the hostile entity behind it.)
    • When interaction is blocked (For example, when a pet obstructs an interactable wooden door in the player's line of sight, the targeting system will automatically ignore the pet and target the door instead.)
  • Tool Special Case
Blocks that are suitable for the currently held tool will not be ignored by the targeting system.
  • Toggle Key Support
Added a configurable keybinding for quickly toggling pass-through targeting in-game. (Unassigned by default.)

UI & Feedback Improvements

  • Melee Sweep Particles
Adds visual sweep particles when performing melee attacks.
  • Smooth Attack Indicator
Adds interpolation to the attack cooldown bar for smoother visual feedback.
  • Charge Indicator for Ranged Weapons
Displays charge progress using the attack indicator when using ranged weapons.

Compatibility

Known Incompatible Mods:

The Aeronautics Camera Sync mod directly replaces the vanilla targeting logic, preventing AliveCombat's targeting modifications from functioning properly.

Adding compatibility would require rewriting this part of Aeronautics Camera Sync's implementation. Therefore, there are currently no plans to add compatibility support for it in future updates.

Usage Notice

AliveCombat is designed as a client-side-only mod to maintain a lightweight and flexible implementation, allowing it to function without additional dependencies or constraints.

The mod focuses on enhancing combat feel and interaction on the client side.
When used in multiplayer environments, users should be mindful of server rules and gameplay expectations.

The developer’s intent is to improve overall combat experience, and no guarantees are made regarding compatibility with all server-side policies.
