Leaky - Item Lag Fix
Detects broken farms and item leaks, reduces dropped item lag, and safely cleans up dangerous item concentrations
Quick answer
Which Leaky - Item Lag Fix release should I use?
Leaky - Item Lag Fix leaky-fabric-1.20.1-3.4.jar targets 1.20.1 with Fabric. The project page does not say whether this file belongs on the client, dedicated server, or both. All 1 required mods have matching files.
Where it goes
Is Leaky - Item Lag Fix required on the client, server, or both?
The project page does not say whether this file belongs on the client, dedicated server, or both.
The source does not explicitly classify this release as client-only or server-only.
What else does Leaky - Item Lag Fix leaky-fabric-1.20.1-3.4.jar need?
leaky-fabric-1.20.1-3.4.jar. Change the file and its required mods may change too.
Install Cupboard first. We found matching files for this game-version and loader setup.
We only count dependency files that match this setup. A file for another loader does not fill the gap.

About this project
What does Leaky - Item Lag Fix add?

Leaky detects broken farms, item leaks and dangerous concentrations of dropped items before they become a server performance problem.
Instead of periodically deleting all dropped items, Leaky tracks larger item clusters and observes how they behave over time. This allows it to distinguish temporary item bursts from continuously leaking or wasteful farms.
Leaky also reduces the performance overhead of large item concentrations while they remain in the world. Leaky is server-side only.
Item leak detection
Once enough dropped item entities gather in an area, Leaky starts tracking them as an item cluster. It monitors:
- current item entity count
- newly arriving items
- despawned items
- player pickups
- cluster lifetime
New clusters receive a short grace period so ordinary events such as breaking several containers are not immediately treated as leaks. Clusters can then progress through increasingly serious states:
Created → Observing → Suspicious → Leak → Pending deletion
Working farms with low item concentrations can continue operating normally without being classified as leaks. Leaky can also detect wasteful farms where the number of dropped items remains relatively stable because a significant portion of newly produced items continuously despawns.
Item performance improvements
Large piles of dropped items can already cause significant server overhead before they become large enough to require cleanup. Leaky reduces expensive collision, fluid and movement processing for old or densely clustered items while keeping newly dropped and actively moving items responsive.
This reduces the impact of problematic item concentrations while they are being investigated, collected or waiting to despawn.
Reports
When Leaky detects a problem, it reports useful information about the affected cluster, including its size, state, activity and location. Coordinates in chat are clickable for quickly teleporting to the affected area.
Notifications can be configured for nearby players, server operators, everyone, or disabled completely. Reported item concentrations can also optionally be highlighted with the glowing effect.
Automatic cleanup
Confirmed oversized leaks can automatically be removed after reaching a configurable size and warning delay. Recent player pickups postpone cleanup, helping protect items that are actively being collected.
A separate much higher emergency threshold can immediately handle extreme item concentrations that may threaten server stability without waiting for normal leak classification. Before items are removed, Leaky stores copies in an in-memory deletion history, allowing recently deleted clusters to be inspected and restored during the same server session.
Additional features
- Detection and logging of unusually large non-item entity concentrations
- Detection of extreme item concentrations in non-ticking areas
- Configurable detection, reporting, waste and cleanup thresholds
- Optional highlighting of reported item concentrations
- Support for detecting wasteful farms with sustained item despawning
- Configurable notification recipients
- Clickable coordinates and inspection actions

No known incompatibilities. Leaky should work alongside other mods.
Only required on the server.
