About this project

What does PvPControl add?

Are you on a server with PvP but don't want to take part?

-> Then PvPControl is your way to go.

Every player decides for themselves whether they want PvP. A hit only lands when both players have PvP on. And after a fight you can't just switch it off to escape, because a combat cooldown keeps PvP on for a few seconds.

Works everywhere

Platform Minecraft
Plugin: Spigot, Paper, Purpur, Folia & forks 1.8.8 to 26.3 (one jar for all versions)
Fabric / Quilt (needs Fabric API) 1.20 to 26.3
NeoForge 1.20.1 to 26.3
Forge 1.20 to 26.3

The mods are server-side only, so players join with a normal vanilla client. They also work in singleplayer and LAN.
Pick the file for your loader and Minecraft version on the Versions tab; each mod file lists the exact versions it supports.

In-game menu

Just type /pvp:

  • switch your PvP on or off with one click
  • see whether you're in combat and how long the cooldown still runs
  • admins additionally get: cooldown ±5s or a custom value via input dialog (click the clock, 1.21.6+), feedback in action bar or chat, language switch, reload, and a player list to toggle anyone's PvP

Commands

Command What it does
/pvp Open the menu
/pvp on, off, toggle Change your PvP
/pvp status [player] Show your or someone's PvP
/pvp help Clickable list of all commands

Admin

Command What it does
/pvp players Menu with all online players, click to toggle
/pvp set <player|*> <on|off|toggle> Set PvP for one player or everyone
/pvp cooldown [seconds] Show or change the combat cooldown
/pvp display <actionbar|chat> Where "PvP blocked" notices appear
/pvp language <en|de|...> Change the language
/pvp reload Reload config and messages

Aliases: /pvpcontrol, /pvptoggle

Permissions

pvpcontrol.use -> use /pvp and the menu (default: everyone)
pvpcontrol.others -> check other players' PvP (default: everyone)
pvpcontrol.admin -> settings and other players' PvP (default: op)
pvpcontrol.bypass.cooldown -> turn PvP off while in combat (default: op)

On mod loaders, operators are admins. On Fabric, LuckPerms (fabric-permissions-api) is supported automatically.

What gets blocked

Melee, bows, crossbows, tridents, snowballs, fishing rods, fireworks, TNT lit by a player and, on the plugin, harmful splash and lingering potions. Self-damage is never blocked.

Configuration

  • config.yml: language, default PvP state, cooldown, feedback display, sounds, worlds where PvPControl stays out
  • lang/messages_en.yml, lang/messages_de.yml: every text, with & colors and &#RRGGBB hex colors. Add your own language as messages_xx.yml.

New options from updates are added to your config automatically, without touching your comments.
