⛏️ Azmine

Fast, responsive multi-block mining for legacy and modern Minecraft

Client Mods: Forge 1.12.2 & 1.20.1 · Fabric 1.20.1 & 1.21.1 · NeoForge 1.21.1

Server Endpoints: Matching modded servers · Bukkit · Spigot · Paper · Purpur

Mine veins, trees, tunnels, columns, strips, and structured areas using multiple configurable mining patterns.

Azmine provides responsive controls, clear block previews, direct reward delivery, dynamic tool durability, and server-authoritative multiplayer behavior.

🚀 Features

  • Fast bulk mining - efficiently mines groups of blocks without replaying a complete player-break transaction for every additional block
  • 🧠 Multiple mining patterns - vein, column, strip, small tunnel, large tunnel, and square
  • 🌳 Tree mining - quickly harvest connected logs while keeping wood variants separate
  • 👁️ Block previews - see exactly which blocks will be mined before activating a pattern
  • 🎮 Simple controls - hold the mining key and use Alt + scroll to cycle between patterns
  • 🔧 Dynamic durability - tool damage scales with the number of blocks successfully mined
  • 🎁 Direct reward delivery - mined items are placed into your inventory and experience is awarded directly
  • 🛠️ Configurable behavior - adjust mining limits and gameplay settings for players, servers, and modpacks
  • 🌐 Loader-neutral protocol - use supported Azmine clients with matching modded servers or the Azmine Endpoint plugin
  • 🛡️ Protection-aware mining - every additional block receives a separate server-side break authorization check
  • 🕰️ Legacy and modern support - consistent functionality across Minecraft 1.12.2, 1.20.1, and 1.21.1 clients

🎮 Controls

  • Hold the configured mining key while breaking a block to activate Azmine
  • Use Alt + scroll wheel to cycle through available mining patterns
  • The selected pattern is displayed through the in-game HUD and block preview

Controls and available behavior can be adjusted through the Azmine configuration.

⛏️ Mining Patterns

Vein

Mines connected blocks matching the original block.

Ideal for ores, logs, dirt, stone, and other naturally connected groups.

Column

Mines a vertical column extending from the selected block.

Useful for pillars, trees, shafts, and vertical structures.

Strip

Mines a straight horizontal line in the selected direction.

Useful for clearing rows or creating narrow paths.

Small Tunnel

Mines a compact tunnel suitable for normal exploration and branch mining.

Large Tunnel

Mines a larger tunnel for faster excavation and infrastructure projects.

Square

Mines a structured square area based on the targeted surface.

Useful for clearing walls, floors, ceilings, and construction areas.

🌐 Loader-Neutral Multiplayer

Azmine uses a versioned, loader-neutral application protocol that allows supported client mods to communicate with an Azmine Endpoint.

An endpoint can be provided by the matching Azmine server mod or by the Bukkit-compatible Azmine Endpoint plugin.

Environment Client installation Server installation
Single-player Matching Azmine mod Included through the integrated server
Forge, Fabric, or NeoForge server Matching Azmine mod Matching Azmine mod
Bukkit, Spigot, Paper, or Purpur server Supported Azmine client mod Azmine Endpoint plugin
Player without Azmine Nothing required Can join normally, but cannot use Azmine
Geyser/Bedrock player Nothing required Can join normally, but cannot use Azmine

For Modrinth environment metadata, the client mods are marked Client and server, optional on server. The server mod is optional because a compatible endpoint plugin can replace it.

Multiplayer mining still requires an endpoint. If the server has neither the matching mod nor the plugin, clients can join normally, but Azmine remains inactive.

🛡️ Server-Authoritative Mining

Azmine mining is planned, authorized, and executed by the server.

The targeted starting block completes through the server’s normal block-breaking transaction. Every additional block then receives a separate cancellable break authorization before Azmine uses its optimized bulk-mining path.

This preserves:

  • Tool and harvest requirements
  • Tool-aware item drops
  • Enchantment behavior
  • Experience rewards
  • Aggregate tool durability
  • Creative-mode behavior
  • Standard server protection hooks

On Bukkit-based servers, claim and protection plugins that enforce their rules through BlockBreakEvent receive a separate authorization opportunity for every additional block.

If a block is denied, Azmine leaves it untouched while continuing with later authorized blocks. Protection systems that rely exclusively on private internals or unrelated interaction events may require a dedicated integration.

🎁 Drops, Experience, and Durability

Azmine preserves its familiar direct reward-delivery behavior while allowing the server to calculate authorized rewards.

  • Items are delivered directly to the player’s inventory
  • Inventory overflow remains in the world
  • Experience is added directly to the player
  • Existing nearby items and experience are never collected
  • Creative-mode mining does not create survival rewards
  • Using the wrong tool produces no drops when vanilla would produce no drops
  • Low-durability tools no longer cause a vein to stop halfway through
  • The complete authorized operation finishes before its combined durability cost is applied
  • Unbreaking and tool-break behavior remain part of the durability calculation

🔀 ViaVersion Support

Azmine can operate over translated Minecraft connections when a Bukkit-based server uses ViaVersion and ViaBackwards.

For example, a supported Azmine 1.21.1 client can connect to a newer Paper server when ViaVersion permits the base Minecraft connection. The Azmine Endpoint plugin then communicates with the client using the Azmine Protocol.

ViaVersion does not create Azmine builds for unsupported Minecraft versions and does not translate the Azmine Protocol itself. Players must still use one of the supported client versions listed below.

⚙️ Configuration

Azmine includes configurable mining limits and gameplay behavior for players, server owners, and modpack developers.

Server-authoritative settings are synchronized to connected Azmine clients.

Configuration files vary by platform:

  • Forge 1.12.2: config/azmine-common.cfg
  • Modern Forge, Fabric, and NeoForge: config/azmine-common.toml
  • Bukkit, Spigot, Paper, and Purpur: plugins/AzmineEndpoint/config.yml

Available options may vary slightly between legacy Forge, modern mod loaders, and Bukkit-based servers.

🔄 Migrating from Arctic’s Vein Miner

Azmine was formerly known as Arctic’s Vein Miner.

  • The mod name changed to Azmine
  • The mod ID changed from avm to azmine
  • The modern configuration changed from avm-common.toml to azmine-common.toml
  • Forge 1.12.2 uses azmine-common.cfg
  • Existing configurations are migrated automatically where supported

The rebrand does not change the core purpose of the mod. Azmine continues the same project with improved performance, broader server compatibility, and more consistent multiplayer behavior.

🛠️ Supported Client Versions

Minecraft Loader Java
1.12.2 Forge Java 8
1.20.1 Forge Java 17
1.20.1 Fabric Java 17
1.21.1 Fabric Java 21
1.21.1 NeoForge Java 21

Each release includes its Minecraft version and loader in the filename to make builds easier to identify.

🔌 Supported Server Endpoints

Legacy Endpoint

Minecraft Platforms Java
1.12.2 Bukkit, Spigot, Paper Java 8

The legacy endpoint is specifically built for CraftBukkit-compatible v1_12_R1 Minecraft 1.12.2 servers and Forge 1.12.2 Azmine clients.

Modern Endpoint

Minecraft Platforms Plugin bytecode
1.20.1–1.21.11 Bukkit, Spigot, Paper, Purpur Java 17

Use the Java version required by your Minecraft server. Newer Minecraft and Paper releases may require Java 21 even though the plugin itself uses Java 17 bytecode.
