Frens
Companion bots that woodcut, mine, fish, farm, build, fight and follow you, with persistent inventories. Optional beta: local-AI companions that talk, remember and banter, with voices.
Quick answer
Which Frens release should I use?
Frens 1.1.230-release+1.21.11 targets 1.21.11 with Fabric. Installation on the client is optional. Installation on the dedicated server is optional. All 1 required mods have matching files.
Where it goes
Is Frens required on the client, server, or both?
Installation on the client is optional. Installation on the dedicated server is optional.
The source marks this as usable on both the client and server.
What else does Frens 1.1.230-release+1.21.11 need?
1.1.230-release+1.21.11. Change the file and its required mods may change too.
Install Fabric API first. We found matching files for this game-version and loader setup.
We only count dependency files that match this setup. A file for another loader does not fill the gap.

About this project
What does Frens add?
Frens adds friendly NPC companions to Minecraft.
Spawn a companion, have them follow you, and assign survival tasks like woodcutting, mining, fishing, and basic building. Companions keep their inventory and stats between sessions and are built to handle everyday hazards while they work.
Talking companions (optional, beta)
With Ollama running on your machine, companions answer you in chat, remember what happened, banter with each other, and can speak with voices. It's off by default, and in-game Guide → AI setup walks you through it.
⚠️ This part is very much in beta: expect slowness and odd replies, and setups other than Apple Silicon Macs have had little testing. Everything else works without it.
Requirements
Fabric Loader and Fabric API, installed on both client and server. Don't install it next to the original AI-Player mod: Frens is a fork of it and the two conflict.
