Render Method
One key toggles your render distance down to 2 chunks for an instant FPS boost, then restores it back to normal on a second press.
Quick answer
Which Render Method release matches 26.1.2?
Render Method 1.0.0+26.1.2 targets 26.1.2 with Fabric. It must be installed on the client. Do not install it on the dedicated server. All 1 required mods have matching files.
Where it goes
Is Render Method required on the client, server, or both?
It must be installed on the client. Do not install it on the dedicated server.
This file is marked client-only.
What else does Render Method 1.0.0+26.1.2 need?
1.0.0+26.1.2 on 26.1.2. Every mod below is checked against that same setup.
Install Fabric API first. We found matching files for this game-version and loader setup. 1 comes through another mod in the chain.
1 extra mod was pulled in by another dependency. Indented rows show who needs each one. We only count dependency files that match this setup. A file for another loader does not fill the gap.

About this project
What does Render Method add?
Works on DonutSMP!
Render Method is a lightweight Fabric client-side mod that lets you slash your render distance on demand with one keybind, then instantly restore it.
⚙️ How to Change the Keybind
- Make sure Mod Menu and Cloth Config are installed alongside Render Method
- Open the game and go to Mods from the main menu or pause menu
- Find Render Method in the mod list and click the config/wrench icon next to it
- In the config screen, click the Toggle Key binding button
- Press whatever key you want to use as the new toggle
- Click Done / close the config screen to save
How it works:
- Press the toggle key to drop your render distance to 2 chunks
- Press it again to restore your previous render distance automatically
- An on-screen message confirms the change and shows what was saved/restored
Why you'd want this:
- PvP/competitive play - cut down render load in the middle of a fight without digging through options menus
- Low-end hardware - quickly free up FPS when things get chunky (large builds, redstone contraptions, crowded servers)
- Speedrunning - shave off rendering overhead during time-critical sections
- Streaming/recording - drop distant chunk rendering to reduce stutter without alt-tabbing
