Snowfall in Every Biome
Snowfall in Every Biome allows snow to fall in every biome while preserving each biome's original characteristics.
Quick answer
Which Snowfall in Every Biome release should I use?
Snowfall in Every Biome 2.1.0+NeoForge targets 1.21, 1.21.1 with NeoForge. Installation on the client is optional. Installation on the dedicated server is optional. All 1 required mods have matching files.
Where it goes
Is Snowfall in Every Biome required on the client, server, or both?
Installation on the client is optional. Installation on the dedicated server is optional.
The source marks this as usable on both the client and server.
What else does Snowfall in Every Biome 2.1.0+NeoForge need?
2.1.0+NeoForge. Change the file and its required mods may change too.
Install Architectury API first. We found matching files for this game-version and loader setup.
We only count dependency files that match this setup. A file for another loader does not fill the gap.

About this project
What does Snowfall in Every Biome add?
Snowfall in Every Biome
Snowfall in Every Biome allows snow to fall in every biome while preserving each biome's original characteristics.
Instead of converting biomes into snowy variants or changing their temperature, vegetation, colors, or other environmental properties, this mod keeps the original biome behavior intact and
simply enables snowfall.
This means deserts, jungles, savannas, forests, and other normally warm biomes can experience snow without losing their unique atmosphere and biome-specific features.
Requirements
Architectury API is required for this mod to work.
Features
- Enables snowfall in all biomes within configured dimensions
- Lets you enable or disable forced snowfall per dimension
- Provides a dedicated snow accumulation speed setting, independent of Minecraft’s randomTickSpeed gamerule
- Preserves the original biome properties
- Does not replace or convert existing biomes
- Keeps biome-specific vegetation, colors, terrain, and environmental characteristics
- Makes it possible to create a winter-style world without completely changing biome identity
- Hostile mobs can spawn even during daytime, making snowy worlds more dangerous and challenging
Perfect for players who want a snowy Minecraft world while keeping the diversity and characteristics of the vanilla biomes.
Dimension Settings
Choose which dimensions receive forced snowfall using snowDimensions in config/snowfall_in_every_biome.toml.
By default, forced snowfall is enabled only in the Overworld:
snowDimensions = ["minecraft:overworld"]
Add dimension IDs to enable snowfall in other dimensions, including modded dimensions:
snowDimensions = ["minecraft:overworld", "minecraft:the_nether", "minecraft:the_end", "example:moon"]
Dimensions not listed retain their normal weather and natural snowfall. Use [] to disable forced snowfall everywhere. Restart the game or server after changing this setting, and use
matching configuration on the server and clients.
Snow still requires a suitable exposed surface. Enabling snowfall in the Nether does not make snow fall through its bedrock ceiling.
World Generation Mod Compatibility
Snowfall in Every Biome has also been confirmed to work with some world-generation mods, including:
- Tectonic
- Terralith
Other world-generation mods may also work, but compatibility has not been fully tested.
Recommended Mod
For an even more immersive winter experience, using Snow! Real Magic! alongside this mod is highly recommended.
Snow! Real Magic! adds additional snow-related features and visual improvements that complement Snowfall in Every Biome and make snowy environments feel more natural and immersive.
Snow Accumulation Speed
The mod provides a dedicated snow accumulation system that operates independently of Minecraft’s randomTickSpeed gamerule. You can adjust snow accumulation without changing the random tick
speed used by crops, plants, and other blocks.
Use the following command:
/seb tickspeed
Values range from 0 to 300. Higher values make snow accumulate faster, while 0 stops accumulation. This setting is shared across dimensions where forced snowfall is enabled and is saved
with the world.
You can also set the default speed in config/snowfall_in_every_biome.toml:
defaultSnowTickSpeed = 2
The default is 2; 3 corresponds to Minecraft’s standard accumulation rate. Worlds with a previously saved /seb tickspeed value keep that value instead of using the configured default.
Compatibility Notice: When using Snow! Real Magic!, this command may not work due to conflicts between the two mods. Snow accumulation behavior may be overridden by Snow! Real Magic!,
preventing /seb tickspeed from functioning correctly.
